Getting Better Flybuys Offers by Not Using Flybuys for Awhile?

I've been using flybuys spend offers pretty regularly (spend x get y points) and ive noticed that over time that they progressively get worse. i started getting offers for 1200 points after spending $30 which was really easy to reach. Now as ive been using flybuys it increased to $70 for 2000 points to now spend $110 for 2000 which doesnt seem worth it, especially considering i basically never reach that level of spend.

Has anyone had any luck with not using Flybuys for a while and seeing improved deals or through any other method?

Thanks

  • It's a loyalty program, and they have your loyalty. Stop putting big spend through on that card and put the odd item through every week or two until offers come back down to the range you want. It can take a while (I haven't had much by way of "spend $x for 4 weeks for 10k Points" for about 10 weeks now, only just got a 2000 point offer this week after about 6 or 7 weeks), but be patient. Look at having multiple cards and rotating, I know a lot of folks here do that.

    • never thought of multiple cards lol. thanks

      • Works very well with EveryDay Rewards. Having at least 6 means that you'll get an offer like spend $50 a week in multiple transactions for 2 weeks and get $15 back or spend $100 this week in multiple transactions and get $27 back.

  • Yes. It's been proven that when you leave it, the offers creep back in. This is why it's good to have multiple cards at colesworth.

Also don't fall into the trap of spending more just to get the points. 2000 points seems like a lot but on a $120 shop it's 8% back….

  • I've been getting regular offers for spend $290 for 3500 points for a month now, all the 'low' spends have disappeared. The only time we as a family of 5 adults spend that much in a single shop is using the once a month 10% off at woolies

$50/10k 4:week (app 25% yield) should be the target.
Multiple cards to split the shop or alternate with EDR.

  • I had my same flybuys accounts for years and saved a fair amount of money over that time, I could make anywhere between 100 to 150 thousand points each year, but in the past year I hardly got any good offers and the offers I did get were not as good/lucrative. So I cancelled my flybuys account and opened a new one 5 months ago and to date I currently have 48,000 points.
Let’s just say each 2 to 3 years I will be cancelling any “loyalty” program and starting afresh!

Now that Coles required people to use Flybuys cards to purchase discounted Mastercard giftcards, my offers have gone from $50 discount for 4x$50 purchases to $15 discount for a $260 purchase.

I guess I'll never get an attractive offer again.

Just use a temporary paper card for GC purchases.

That would be a good suggestion if a discounted prepaid gift card deal can be purchased using any Flybuys card.

Out of the seven discounted prepaid gift card deals at Coles this year:

        • The first deal did not require any Flybuys cards at all (but was also cancelled).

        • The second deal allowed any type of Flybuys card, including temporary cards.

        • The last five deals (including the recent deal in NSW/ACT/VIC) required a fully registered Flybuys card. Scanning a temporary Flybuys card resulted in no discount being applied at the checkout.

        • Start get flybuys card registered for this kind of deal.

Have each person in your household register a card, rotate their usage
