Penfolds Max's Cabernet Sauvignon 750ml $13.99 Delivered @ Costco (Membership Required)

350

Very good price for this wine. Ususally sits around $25 mark.
You will have to pick at least 6 bottles from https://www.costco.com.au/Wine-Spirits/Wine/Pick-N-Mix-6-Win… to place an online order.

I just ordered a case of this, as I have never seen it this low.

Enjoy!

  • reminds me the awesome deal 6x Penfolds Max’s Shiraz Cabernet 750ml $23.60 Delivered @ Costco back in 2021.
Will keep waiting for that. you never know. :D

The wine is nothing special, and pretty much the Rawson’s Retreat end of the spectrum, but good value at $14. You can do much better at $25.

All the big wineries offer a cab sav around $25, and you will enjoy them. It's more that Penfolds trades on a premium marketing position, so for similar quality you pay more.

At $20-$25 I would suggest Parker Coonawarra, or Taylors as very reliable. Wynns too, if on special.

But what I would really suggest is to try a few common brands around this price point and see which you prefer.

        • The Penfolds Max's wines aren't bad, at $25 they used to be good on the spend $50 at Liquorland/Firstchoice promos to get 3,000 Flybuys points plus adding 15-30% Cashrewards and Shopback cashback many times when they run in conjunction, cheapest I have bought is about $23.75 before factoring Flybuys value and the cashback.

Wynn's is also Treasury Wine Estates like Penfolds.

          • @dandandan: TWE has heaps of brands, and I don’t have any problem with their wines, but they price Penfolds about double what they should be, in my opinion.
Their products are good, just Penfolds specifically is poor value.

Powell & Son - The Blend Shiraz 2020 for just under $20 over at Vinomofo is an unmeasurably better. Just to name one of the top of my head. Subjective opinion of course.

        Anything from Tulloch?

All of their reds are amazing and around the $25 mark, and will be MUCH better than this Penfold crap.

      • Easy easy to find good wine $25
Tim Adams Shiraz, Elderton Bullet Shiraz(CD only), Bleasdale Frank Potts, or Generations on sale, Bec Hardy has some decent stuff for $12 on sale, Powell and Son The Blend through VM(less with codes), Molley Dooker Boxer, Cirillo The Vincent Grenache, Tomfoolery young blood, Heirloom Shiraz, Wynns Shiraz, Torbreck The Woodcutters Shiraz. There's alot out there, even more if you know how to find sale pricing, or secret label deals

  • Damn OOS

  • Hi OP, do you know what year ? Thanks

    • sorry, not mentioned anywhere on product description. Will know when Costco delivers it to me.

  • dayum thats a good price.

Last time it was this cheap was covid 2020 when liquorland was having a 4 for $40 deal.

Mind you it's very much the lower mid range offering from Penfolds

I bought so many St hugos at $10 during that deal!

      • Haha, yeah picked up a 6 pack of those at the same time

The cellar has never been the same since 2020 :(

  • Like my Penfolds but not a fan of the Max range

How does it compare to this one?. Currently undecided.

    • The one you've linked is a good nightly quaffer. Save the Max for special occasions.
