  • Could anyone tell me the differences between this and the ozbargain favourite - Britax Graphene?
Will be putting it in the primary car.

I also looked up the safe n sound quickfix which is in an option for the second car.

IIRC this one is a little safer but is quite a bit bigger so is impractical unless you have something like a mid-large SUV

      • Any chance you can point me in the right direction for these reviews?

      • I have a midsize SUV and a Ute and even the Graphene makes it so the front passenger has their knees jammed against the dash when it’s rear-facing, for both vehicles.

      • I've got a hatchback and this works fine for me.

    • All these models meet Australian minimum standards so won't be too much different in terms of safety features. Sizing may be the deciding factor.

    • +1

This has the side screw out protectors and a more protective shell. We went with it over the graphene as it fit well in a rav4 and had a few more safety features.

      • +1

We went with the + version though as the material and padding is a bit nicer

        • Like yourself we also just bought an ifix +, fit in the new outlander well.

Just purchased and installed Infasecure Attain yesterday - I was tossing up between it and the b-compaq.. we have a Corolla so the space is limited. Think I chose correctly as there’s wayyyy more space than when we had the baby pod from Britax

Btw Popular graphene is $449 -$44.90 with YIPPEE10 (eBay plus, I think) https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/224123951020?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mk…

    • what price did you get the infasecure attain for?

      • Got it from Baby Kingdom (chullora) for $499

    • Does your kiddo like it? I've read reviews claiming kids saying it hurts their back?

      Thanks!

      • Well she’s 6 months, and we are yet to go anywhere, but if I remember I’ll give you an update in a month haha

  • Any recs for britax carseat that goes up to 8 years?

  • +1

Can I ask for an expert opinion: What are the advantages for getting a 0-4 seat, when there are 0/6mo to 8 yr seats available? They look very similar.. is there any major pro's and con's?

First time parent in Sept: and since we need a capsule to transport the newborn from hospital to car, we chose the Bugaboo Turtle capsule, hopefully use that till about 6months, and then hopefully get a 0-8 car seat? (seems like a waste if you need to buy 2x seats over those years?)

Pram-wise, we got the Bugaboo Butterfly, as my wife can't lift full strollers without risk of injury, but for the first few months at least, we can use the Turtle to clip on to the Butterfly.

is there any major pro's and con's

Not an expert but the major pros of 0-4 seats seem to be slightly smaller size and an extra year or 2 of rear-facing. So if your car is big enough to comfortably fit a 0-8 seat then it makes more economical sense to get that instead of going 0-4 then booster.

since we need a capsule to transport the newborn

Is that actually compulsory if your newborn isn't premmie or undersized? Or is this a state dependent thing?

      • +2

No they are not compulsory, but they are removable so unless you want to wake your baby up everytime you get out of the card then I'd recommend one over a car seat. Note that the 8 year old seats start at 12 months not from birth.

Correction: 12 months for Britax but other brands do 8yo seats from birth

I'd recommend one over a car seat

Eh I was leaning that way too but after reading the forums and reddit it seems to be YMMV so ended up not bothering in the end. Also they don't advise having them sleep for too long in the capsule once you take it out of the car anyway.

Note that the 8 year old seats start at 12 months not from birth.

The Infasecure brand someone else mentioned above does seem to have birth to 8 year seats.

          • +2

@vawiyoci: Yep, a good birth to 8 years that does extended rear facing and occasionally goes on sale for $350. Fits in a small sedan but does require the passenger seat forwRd a little to give enough room, definitely worth trying before you buy. That's depth, but also quite slimline. Infasecure titanium, i believe.

          • +1

@vawiyoci: I can chime in as one having a capsule - there were maybe 3 or 4 times in the span of 6 months where the capsule was beneficial for simply unhinging and placing them in a converted pram/on the floor at home and rocked while she slept. If I had my time again would I get a capsule? At least not the britax one I got, it was a complete as$hole to bring down the top safety bar. But for those times of use, absolutely.

Hard to find an expert opinion - given even Baby Bunting fitters are not “experts” so finding a qualified opinion on the matter is difficult.

From my vast research there’s plenty of opinion (and fact) that makes a rear facing seats safer - the 0-4years are generally more compact and cater a child rear facing - hence why these typically are not designed up to 8 years.

From my research and what I’m doing - rear facing capsule for the first 6 months (completed) just bought a compact rear facing (Infasecure Attain) where she will be until she’s 4 (or her legs become TOO uncomfortable- most likely, she’s a lanky 99%er) to which we will get her a bigger seat that will accommodate.

I know people (like my mum) will say “why did you buy THREE seats?!) and my answer is simply “she’s safe”. You can’t put a price on that.

      • Thanks for that! I had saved a few Infasecures in my wishlist, but I had the Accomplish (6mo-8yr) or Achieve (0-8yr). It'd be great to find more reviews on these, and your comment (and others above) have been very useful!

        • +1

Depending on the size of your car, it will depend on the model of car seat - we have a corolla and looked at all the "compact" reversible seats. A close contention to the Infasecure Attain was the Britax b-compaq; however there weren't enough reviews online and people's opinions (after all it's expensive) to persuade us with the purchase. We looked at other Safe n Secure range, we drove to Baby Bunting, Big W and even Kmart - you definitely get what you pay for in terms of comfort. While QuickFix etc all got outstanding safety ratings, our little bubs unfortunately got my thighs, so a lot of the car seats were uncomfortable around the legs - a lot of what we looked at (sub $400 mark) was either too narrow or not enough padding for her legs.

My best advice is to have a plan, go out there with specific models and have a look for yourself.
