      I'm gonna stop you right there before you get more +1 for no reason. Like every entity, AEC has a budget. In the budget there money distributed within the budget, for example, paying for website maintenance, salaries, education etc. Under education there's the social media outreach department. The department is allocated a certain amount of money for voting awareness. The big boss of AEC pretty much say, "here's X amount of money for your department, could you try your best to raise awareness on electoral voting?" So the department goes "Okay, I'll come up with something."

      The money wasn't meant for anything else. The money is meant to raise awareness because people LIKE YOU disregard the IMPORTANCE OF CHOOSING A FUTURE POLITICAL CANDIDATE.

      And yet people wonder what the hell is wrong with government spending their tax money.

        johndoe789 I get how budgets work and there is no question on the "importance of choosing a future political candidate".

        It's not a question of what, but how.

        I'm saying it feels like they just pissed $20000+ away. A STUPID waste of money. A lot of the people received the $10 itunes credit didn't even tag a person unenrolled. AEC's message probably got to a few folks. But most people simply skipped that bit and went straight to the free itunes credit. Some people here even used multiple mobile numbers.

        But who cares, at least they spent their "allocated" social media budget right? Guess its ok be carefree with tax payers money, its not your money anyway…oh wait..

          Advertisement deals a lot with probability. If I printed out $500 dollars worth of flyers and hand them out, I'm sure 99% of them will be binned in the next 30 seconds - would that be a waste? Well that depends on actuarial model that my company is applying, maybe spending $500 to target that 1% is worth the money.

          If you're think that this is a waste of money, obviously feel free to contact the AEC to provide feedback. I'm sure they are willing to look at different ideas if they felt the last model doesn't work - instead of complaining.

          Look the FB app idea was an ok, its the execution. It was just so blasé. It was open app, click finish, copy answer, get itunes, at least force the person to tag one or two people or something.

          Don't get me wrong mate, I don't really care that much, ITS FREE MONEY for an hour! LOL I was here for free itunes and just making a bon fire joke. You got me in argue for arguement sake mode by getting all "serious"

        it had, and it came up with "reauthenticate" but then some random clicking around and it worked, voucher being sent to my email.

        I had two windows open at the page to enter your unique code, so I reloaded one and it came up with "looks like you're having some trouble…" I switch back to the other and it worked.

    Keep that page with the re-authenicate open - you wont get back to it.
    Open a new window and repeat the process, when you get to the enter your phone number, do it and it will say "looks like you're having some difficulty.." switch back to original window and it will work. Worked for me.

    Like others, I waited for ages and finally got the SMS just after midnight. Luckily I still had the tab open, but I got the reauthenticate error. I opened the app in a new tab, clicked finish, didn't answer the question again, put the sms code in the original tab with the reauthenticate error and it worked!

      Unfortunately I gave up after 20 mins and closed the browser. I got the SMS almost an hour later, but when I get to part where I enter my mobile number I get an error telling me "It appears that you're having trouble receiving your code. Please message us via our Facebook page for assistance.".

      How do I get back to the screen where I just enter the code that was SMS'd to me?
