I've been using this for the past week and I love it. Historical low price on Ozbargain it seems. Also comes in Black and White.

Things I like about it

  • Charging dock (glows white light) and built in battery (but can also be charged with usb-c cable)
  • Wireless connectivity
  • Uses 2.4ghz for better stability and latency (as opposed to bluetooth)
  • Has backpaddles for extra buttons

  • I'm seeing it at $72.21 for Black, Pastel Pink and White

    • Sometimes these prices can fluctuate unfortunately

Personally I would spend the extra ~$15 for the Bluetooth Version with Hall-Effect Sensing Joystick.

    • +1

yes please do this as you also get access to creating your own macros (limited but useful in TOTK!)

    • While I'm not a fan of bluetooth, you've got me curious about trying out the hall-effect…

      • +11

You don't need to be a fan of Bluetooth. It (the Bluetooth version) has a switch on the back to go between 2.4ghz and Bluetooth.
And is a better controller worth the extra money

          Thanks, now I have fomo.

      • +4

i always read it as hell-effect and i thought hmm i prefer heaven effect

    • +2

I have this one and it would be one of the best controllers i've ever used

    • +4

Well that's a terrible naming convention. I thought "Ultimate" would indicate it having the fancy stuff, rather than the connection type indicating what it has.

      • +2

They are both named 'Ultimate' Wireless Controller, it's just that they have a 2.4g and a Bluetooth Version.

        • +8

          That's my point though.

One having hall effect joysticks while the other doesn't basically makes them different controllers. It's like a membrane and mechanical keyboard going by the same model name.

          • @TheContact: You mean like “gaming keyboards”?

            • @Pwoar: Does it matter?

Okay, how about a QK100 E-White coming with a gasket mount and QK100 Anodised Black being tray mount..

    • +3

Good deal! But I really wanted pink.

    • Best controller, ever.

    • 100% need bluetooth for motion controls on PC

    • I bought the 2.4GHz version expecting it to have Hall-Effect. That sucks.

Does anyone know if this works with Tesla Model Y?

    • You better give us a model y bargain deal that we can test for you.

    • +8

Not sure. But you can probably use it for you submarine.

      • Damn, beat me to it.

      • Too soon

    • +1

I assume you mean for playing games? I've seen others with the brown usb stick from 8bitdo plugged in and working well (even 2 of them), so would hope this would work as well.

      • yea, playing games. Thanks.
Not sure why the negs, probably from people who don't own a tesla.

        • They might have thought you were being funny.

  • +2

Can I use this for Ocean Gate submarine?

    • +5

It would be a huge upgrade.

I don't understand what went wrong, everything was ticked off as substandard.

    • +2

Who are all the killjoys voting you down?

  • Tempting for the BT version but unless you need one asap I’d wait for Prime Day for any potential extra discount.

    • buy now, regret later

or: ask to be credited difference which in my experience has 100% fail rate (since i only tried once, maybe depends on person you speak to?)

then: return the original unit for a full refund and buy the lower price (which the rep said was the only way)

      shrug

  • I dont see where it is compatible with..anyone used this on a the switch or apple tv ?

    • you will need the ultimate bluetooth model for switch

    • You will need to check if if your devices work with 2.4ghz connection. My guess is neither of those devices support it.

I use the BT version with my shield.

I recommend going with the BT version for the extra $15. Hall effect joysticks and better compatibility with the BT.

  • Anybody know if this works with the NVIDIA shield?

    • Says its compat with Android so I don't see why not.

  • +3

What deep ocean pressure will this controller withstand?

  • +4

Go for the Bluetooth version - superior in every way

  • Tempting so I can finally play Luigis Mansion on switch… since you cant invert the Y axis in-game..

  • yeah love 8bitdo countrollers use them for all my Pi builds.

  • +2

Wait from prime day and get the bluetooth one

    • +1

When would be the next prime day?

      • +3

Should be in a couple weeks. Sometime in July

        • +3

          July 11th

  • Uses 2.4ghz for better stability and latency (as opposed to bluetooth)

You do realize the bluetooth version has 2.4Ghz wireless mode too right?

    • Yeah only learnt after making this thread.
