  Tell me if I'm wrong… this light would eventually blow, so you'd need to replace it. Wouldn't that mean you'd need a whole new smart light? Or do you just buy a new bulb for the smart light?

  If you need a new smart light, why not just buy a smart plug and do it that way?

    the bulb is the smart light. connects to your wifi and you need the app or things like alexa or google assistant etc.

      That's what I thought, so you'd need a new one every time.

      So really, wouldn't it be cheaper long term to just have a smart plug and a normal bulb?

        I assume you are thinking about using it in a lamp(not the ceiling), then yes you could use a smart plug instead on the lamp plug.
        With that in mind these bulbs typically have a long life so if you are lucky it would be many years anyway.

          @logisync: That's what I do currently for our lamps.

          I'm just interested with smart bulbs, as you'd have to set them up over and over when they blow, but I suppose if it's only every couple of years.

            @Chmmr: Don't forget with smart lights you can dim, and on supporting models, you can change temperature and RGB

            @Chmmr: Ive been using smart bulbs for the past 10 years and even the first one are still going strong.

            Im sure the electronics on cheaper ones will burn out quicker, but even if it lasts 5 years, that aint too bad
