Are the new paperwhites worth the extra $50 over this? Asking for a friend

    • +4

with larger screen and 17 LEDs, I would say yes.

      • Ended up wanting more LEDs and bought one. Now how do I get it to do rainbows to match my keyboard

Does your friend read in the dark?

      If not, then no.

      the waterproof rating maybe

    • +3

1 inch difference definitely makes a difference.

      • +3

That's what your wife tells me.

        • +1

Yeah she goes "damn cakesyy its a real shame you lack that extra inch youngchul76 has, then maybe I would feel something."

          • @TrafalgarSean: Not really a burn

            • @cakesyy: I am not using top tier burns on someone who's initial comment was D tier comedy. But good to see it took you so long to think up a witty retort

    • I would say so purely for the adjustable warm backlight

    • And the better battery life: 10 weeks vs 6 weeks is a big jump.

    • Definitely worth it.
It's just 0.8-inch difference on paper but it actually noticeable when you holding it.

  • can this read out to you like audiobooks? some sites says the australia version doesnt allot u to do so.

  • Excuse my ignorance but do these read .epub’s and other formats, or strictly native stuff for the kindle?

Would like to be able to upload stuff from pc to the reader.

    Is all that possible?

    • +5

Yes, it is possible. Everyone with an e-reader (regardless of brand) should be using Calibre anyway, which converts anything to anything, so format doesn't matter at all.

      • Thanks buddy. Appreciate the response
