  • May want to update your title to include Diesel Heater, much better description

  • Not sure how this works, where does the diesel exhaust go??

    • -5

This is an electric heater. There is no diesel exhaust.

It is also useless in most parts of Australia as our winter temperature is higher than the cloud point of winter diesel fuel.

Might wanna review the product again.

        It has an exhaust tube.

It's not a heater for fuel, its a heater that runs on diesel.

Common in Marine and Caravane applications.

Oh you are right. This heater runs on diesel that is sourced from the vehicle's fuel tank. I got confused by reference to 12V, "car parking", and

Fuel supplied from the vehicle's own tank
Applicable to: various diesel mechanical vehicles such as cars, buses, RVs, trucks, engineering vehicles, etc.

Let me make up for the incorrect information with these links.

          • @alvian: been looking at these recently, theyve got a in built diesel tank.

            • @bob98: These self contained box units are more suited to shack or shed use IMO… For campervan, caravan, boat use the kits with all the seperate components are more practical I think, you can tuck everything away in normally unused spaces and such…

  • can get a diesel heater on ebay for just over $100 aud if your wanting to burn your campsite down. identical to these models

    • +1

Fyi they dont have a flame coming out the vent as they often show in the ebay ad photos, they have like a little jet engine inside kinda, and a heat exchanger setup, the combustion side air in and exhaust out connect to the outside of your vehicle, and the circulating heated air is completely separate… They're pretty safe….

It's wise to install a CO monitor/alarm when you install a heater like this, CO is the main risk…

    $173aud…. Bargain?
Or…. you could check eBay where these types of heaters commonly go for around $120 or less.
Shoulda typed faster, bob98 beat me to it.

  • Wouldnt it be easier to leave your car on idle with the heater on?

    • Diesel heaters use very little fuel, like 100ml per hour, you can run them all night for a couple of dollars…

      • +1

100ml/hr of diesel is around 1kw (42mj/kg), with a random searched efficiency of about 70%, so around 700w.

The efficiency depends a lot how you use it/specific model.

Whatever that's worth. Not sure why I bothered to do that calc =P

        • Good job looking it up, facts are good :) that sounds about right… I should have said "as low as 100ml per hr" and specified mine is a 2kw… I only run it flat out when I first fire it up, and for a few mins before I shut it down to prevent sooting and carbon buildup….

          I'm not heating a big area, it's just a Hiace Commuter bus…

  • I have a 2kw cheap chinese diesel heater in my campervan, it's great…

These heater often have issues from new so it's wise to buy from ebay, ship from Aus, for easy returns if there's any issues…

Banggood is a pain to deal with when something gone wrong. I would not bother unless something real cheap that you don't mind losing the money. I bought a thermal imaging monitor for about $500 last year, and they shipped me a second hand unit. I returned the item as per instructed and had to pay $50 postage fee upfront. Returned item landed in China but got struck at processing centre for weeks, contacted Banggood and they did not want to assist or help follow up. They will automatically close down your support/refund request in 7 days unless you keep posting a comment in ticket. Despite months of follow up, Banggood can't help to locate or liaise with China post on lost item. They did ask me to get help from auspost, but nothing they can do about it as item did actually land in China and handled by China post. I at the end was lucky to get refund through PayPal depute. Still lost $50 shipping fee

Cheaper on ebay from hcalory direct. Negged for price, not for product.
I am currently using an hcalory in my caravan at the snow. Top unit, keeps us toasty warm.
