Looking at a comparison of these vs the previous model, it seems like the IP rating has gone doen from IP67 to IP55 - is that anything to be concerned about, especially if I intend to use them while cycling?

I've had them for several months now for both cycling and running, pretty good and sweat and even rain proof (not heavy rain). A bit too quiet at times when cycling too fast or listening to audiobooks while running (I increased the audio in the audiobook app) but the biggest plus is you can still hear your surroundings.

My current approach is music on the phone speaker at full volume, in the back pocket of a jersey / side pocket of a backpack - so I think this should still be an improvement!

      • Whilst cycling do you hear more wind noise with the headphones compared to without?

        • Hmm I wouldn't say more wind noise with the headphones, probably less wind noise because they go in front of your ears, but it's still there so it's a bit harder to hear the music when going faster.

Still better than in ear headphones or nothing at all, works exactly as intended but occasionally I wouldn't mind music being a bit louder.

    • Have both. Biggest difference is the open run pro remove that wind sound when cycling and talking on the phone. Before you would have to stop or slow considerably if you wanted to be understood on a call.
Using them for skiing this week under a tighter helmet than my bike helmet and it is not as comfortable.

Basically dropping from being able to protect from dust fully, to limited ingress allowable, but the water ingress rating goes down from being able to be submerged up to 1m of water to protection against jets of water.

Unless you're looking at triathlon use, you should be fine when cycling.

  • Just got the openmoves. Love them for around the house. It's weird being able to hear your surroundings but also the headphones.

  • Bought one, dammit. From a quick search it appears they are about $10 above their ATL.

Am starting to have hearing loss from 30 years of too much doof-doof. So hoping these will at least not make things worse.

I've got both Shokz OpenRun Pro and Jabra Elite 7 Active (sports earbuds that don't fall out). Similar price points. I use them for indoor cycling on Zwift for either music or voice comms with teammates.

The Jabras have a mode called "HearThrough" which uses the multiple microphones to feed you the sound around you, sort of like wearing the Shokz. It's not as good as having your actual ears open like you do with the Shokz, but it's OK. The Jabras also have the opposite, an active noise cancelling mode.

I prefer the Shokz for times when I really must hear things around me (like has my kid woken up yet). But the Jabras are much better for anything involving a microphone. People can hear me much more clearly on the Jabras, and I can choose whether to sort of hear around me, or have ANC.

I use these for cycling running and around the house..good to be able to hear the surrounding. I tried hear through in ear headphones like Jabra and google buds pro, but hear through doesn't give enough warning on the noise distance.

However the biggest pro is shokz got physical bottoms.

Recently got an ear infection so these became the only ear phones I can use.
