    Cheaper through Amazon

      It's also from the UK.
      I wouldn't touch overseas routers.

      • Why though? Because of the power plug difference or is there another reason which I'm missing?

        • +2

UK wifi power is limited by law, probably because they live pretty densely populated cities instead of neverending urban sprawl like Australia and the US.

This means it can't reach as far which sucks unless you live in an apartment.

I saw a comment on another similar listing mentioning transmission power ratings might be less than what we are used to

@kikxz: Can you get around this by changing the region in the settings ?

            • @Jasonio: Would like to know this as well, is it a firmware flash or is it physically restricted?

      • +2

A lot of UK Routers do not support the higher 5ghz Wifi 5/6 frequencies on channels 149-163 which could be a problem if you have interference on the lower channels. I think this has recently changed legislation wise in the UK, so if this model and firmware supports these upper channels then all good.
The power plug issue can be solved by a $5 Korjo UK/AU adaptor.

People in the UK used to pronounce "Router" as "Rooter". Sounds weird as when you you hear the natives talk about their "Rooter" problems.. I don't know if this has changed, but was something that I noticed immediately when over there.

Pom here: The Brits have always used the "Root" pronunciation for Route. The Americans changed this for some reason and Australia followed suit (for obvious reasons).

          • @Soundhead: Interesting. I think that we have definitely been influenced here in Australia by US based TV content and YouTube videos and the like in terms of word pronunciation.

  • What is the cheapest way of getting Good Guys Commercial membership?

    • +2

      Joining your union.

  • Which is better? The ASUS RT-AX56U or this?

    • +2

The ASUS is not WiFi 6E, dual band as opposed to tri band and less total bandwidth so this is easy winner.

  • For some reason my local good guys is not showing up for click and collect even when they have stock

    • +1

      Yeah, this is normal.
Commerical pricing is only available in limited quantity so it's likely they don't have much stock.
Apparently, TGG are known to match Commercial pricing even though I have personally been unsuccessful.
Perhaps give that a try and test your luck.

      • I should try that next time. Already placed the order though :)

        • +1

You grabbed a bargain! Enjoy :)

@1r4n14n: True that. I was eyeing this router for awhile. Still can't believe I missed this deal. I even had alerts setup back in May

      • +2

Just a quick update for anyone in the same predicament as me. If you can see stock on the public website give good guys commercial a call on 1300 225 564. Ask them to create a phone order and they will sms you a link to complete payment. You can even choose to pay at the store.
