expired Big W 12" X 16" Digital Print Enlargement for $3 (Save $11.48), Starts Thursday

760

Props to rfg from Whirlpool forum (in the 11" x 14" thread) for spotting this!
Obviously not as good as the 11" x 14" for $1, but still a pretty damn good price for quite a big print…got quite a few from that $1 deal, and even though my expectations was quite low, the photos actually turned out pretty good, as long as you don't the kiosk/machine to auto-correct your shots…
For those of you looking for frames, Big W is still selling 2-pack 12" x 16" for $6…not the best of quality, as it is quite thin, but to get a 12" x 16" photo framed for $6, don't think I'll be complaining….:)

EDIT - Offer available in-store only

Thought about buying a new A3 Printer … but maybe I should hold off now. 3$ is a decent price for that size.

Enlargement for three dollars? sign me up!

  •

I had thirty odd enlargements made during the 11x14 for $1 each offer and I found the quality to be very good. On that occasion the wait time stretched out a bit (as long as about a week) as my local Big W ran out of the paper and had to wait for some more.

  •

Never used this service before, can I take in a massive resolution digital image and have it printed out 12x16 to use as a small wall poster or does enlargement imply you have to copy a smaller physically existing photo ?

    •

bring in your .jpg and have it printed.

    •

The larger the file the better the result (although there could be an upper limit on size)
You will need to keep/crop it in a ratio that matches 12 X 16 In (30.5cm X 40.6 cm) (most photo programs will let you crop to a standard size)

Also note I have ordered online before I wonder if this offer will be available online?? That would be good, save a trip there and just pick up instead once its ready :) edit: Just saw edit, in store only :(

At first I was like "YES, I do require enlargement for my Big W!" but then I realised it was for digital prints.

  •

    Not surprising.
When they did the 11"x14" offer, it used 12" paper which had to be manually cropped after printing.

  •

I did a comparison between BigW and Hardly Normal when the $1 enlargements offers were on (same pics both stores) and the BigW ones were far superior.

    •

given they use the same machines and the same paper I doubt you are going to see any difference unless one machine hadn't been maintained recently.

edit: depending on the stores you went to it is possible you use an epson inkjet on one and a wet lab at the other. That wouldn't be a even comparison.

    Go! Go! Go!

  •

can they do one from a pic on iPhone?

    •

Which iPhone do you have? 3GS - 3MP camera, crap results; iPhone 4 - 5MP, average results; iPhone 4S - 8MP, decent results..
As to whether you can just bring your iPhone to the kiosk and download your pics straight from your iPhone, I'm not too sure…there's a USB port on the machine, so bring your iPhone cable and give it a shot, it may work…

        I only have a 3GS :(
thanks for your info tho :)

        •

Would be a pretty sure bet that it wont work, a normal usb stick has enough trouble!
Tip: Put your photos in the 'root' directory, not in a folder like 'photos' it will be far easier to pick up the photos on the stick.

I picked my 8 enlargements up today and the 2X Frames for $6 - I am entirely pleased with the results and will be going again before this promo runs out!

          Great Deal!

    Wish I'd seen this earlier.

Does this end today (12th) or tomorrow (13th)?

Catalogue says start 6th and runs for 7 days, so not sure when exact end is.

Ends on the 19th according to the website.
