Isn't it always 50% off these days?

    • +2

      no

  • +2

This is quite annoying for those who bought earlier in the year. It would be better if you could stack this offer to start at the end of the current year.

    • +3

Reminds me never to buy anymore ent books until these offers come in.

    • if you could stack this offer

      you can.

they can both be active at the same time

      • Ok. Maybe stack is the wrong word
If only you could activate the current offer after this current year ends.

        • you only get 90 days.

Not worth it even with $1 single city for 3 months.

    • +12

I strongly disagree, we bought one just for a holiday to the Gold Coast and saved $115 in five days!

      • Ah good to know. Heading to the GC tomorrow so might just activate it.

        • If you are looking for a nice Japanese meal Yamagen is 25% off up to $60, this was the best redemption of our trip.

          • @DoctorArd: I bought multi-city for Gold Coast too but couldn’t use for anything. I got 10% off Dreamworld through Cashrewards and 25% disc through EatClub. I didn’t have the free NRMA but that would be a good one for GC.

Went to dinner the other week and saved $30. So was worth it for me

    • +1

I bought mine for $10 during that promo, and literally haven't even activated it. The one thing i wanted it for, we ended up going to a different restaurant haha

    • Saved more than $1 in a single coupon

    • Not worth it for you doesn’t necessarily mean the same for others. U only happy when it’s free isit?

      • +1

Majority offers are available on other platforms as well especially when being a member of any employee discount or rewards program.

And once you clicked redeem, even if you did not use this offer, you have no way to see the code again.
I bought two $1 single city for 3 months, Gold Coast and Sydney. I haven’t used one of the offer although the app says have saved me $150. I just random clicking the app.

For restaurants, usually you choose the one suits you best atm (location, mood) not searching the app and travels a few miles to get 15% capped discount. And sometimes you get forgot to use this app even it may save you couple bucks.

  • If you need Freedom Furniture discounted gift cards without having to wait for a promo, EB was the best I could find (10% off less EB's credit card fee).

  • +7

Bought the 2 for 1 awhile back.

Good book, or now app. Good discounts. Use it every weekend for lunch or dinner. I have saved more money than the cost of the yearly fee in the first month. I buy it every year. Its good because it allows you try different restaurants in different areas of the city and towns instead of sticking to your 'regular' places.

I dont know why this gets the hate it does, maybe they aren't using it properly. But if you can look pass the crappy app, the discounts are worth it.

    • After being told "We don't accept that anymore" or them adding their own terms to the deal that aren't written anywhere… you just kinda give up I guess.

Was amazing years ago. Wouldn't use it if it was free now.

      • +1

You wouldn’t use it if it was free? Do you like paying full price for stuff?

I mean if you go to some of the places on the app then it’s 100% worth it.

        • +1

I’ve been screwed over before so I can understand - being told I can only buy certain things on the menu, then they change their mind on paying and nothing is discounted, so hence even if free this can make you lose money.

      • +3

On the other hand I’ve been to plenty of places where staff didn’t know how to close out the coupon, so you could reuse the same coupon 2 or 3 times until a staff member that knows what they are doing ensures it’s actually redeemed.

Offsets the places that decide they don’t do them or introduce their own terms.

      • We don't accept that anymore as in merchants aren’t honouring the discount from entertainment book?

        • Correct. Happened twice to me. Once was at subway which was kinda funny considering it’s, well, Subway.

          • @AaronR: Thats fken annoying - what do you do in those cases? Make a complaint to entertainment book and say these fkers are honouring your deals!?

            • +1

@prankster: Entertainment book has the worst customer service, they just tell you straight up they don’t care

          • @AaronR: Subway are notorious for not participating in deals, even when it's a subway deal!

    • How's the restaurant selection nowadays? I am Sydney based. I found it pretty bad so stopped purchasing a few years ago. Do you find difficult to redeem? I remember I always had to spend time to explain what it is and a lot of restaurants do not know that they are in.

      • The best value seems to be pancake on the the rocks.

        • Anything else from pancakes worthwhile 😅

Q: is there anyway to Check what deals without subscribing? Ie download app and can browse for free the deals but can’t redeem

          • +1

@prankster: there seems to be only one deal per restaurant

Pancakes one is BOGOF up to value of $45 which is the price of the pork ribs.

Other ones are mostly 25% off

  • Wonder if classified would be selling the 3 month codes

  • If i get 2 x 12 month codes could i activate both at the same time and get 2x each vouchers?

    • +1

      yes

  • +2

WA has an amazing selection of locations btw, unsure about other states

    • +1

VIC is pretty crap around the suburbs compared to a few years ago.

  • +1

Honestly, didn't think i'd get a return on it, but 1 month in and have used it about 6 times, saved around $100 so far.

It's nice to be able to go to restaurants and reduce the bill guilt.
    Misso is on board.

To say thanks for your ongoing support and feedback

How about removing all the offers from the app there are no longer valid

Kew Recreation Centre is still in the book and has been closed for over 3 years.

    • -3

Thanks for the heads up on this one and apologies that you are having this issue. I've just checked in our systems and cannot find this particular business - it may be that it's on an older version on the App or the business is named slightly differently to the above? Please feel free to drop me a line directly.

  • How does this work if I have a membership already - will adding 12 months replenish the vouchers I've already used?

    • You can activate a second Membership concurrently in addition to your current active subscription to gain back the offers you have already redeemed…. and double up on the offers you have not! Or if your Membership expires within the next 90 days, you can purchase a Membership now and activate it within the next 90 days to receive the full Membership tenure. Hope that makes sense!

      • +2

When they double up, which ones get used first?

        • ^this is a great question. Op?

      • When they double up, which ones get used first?

        • You can have as many memberships active on one account (i.e. email address) as you like. If you do have multiple memberships, The Entertainment App will automatically redeem your oldest offers first.

          • @comoprode:

The Entertainment App will automatically redeem your oldest offers first.

            That is terrible…

If you have a 12 month membership and stack with a 3 month membership, that means that older one, on the 12 month membership will be used first, and the one that will be expiring first, will not be used.

  • +1

Why not give people 365 days to activate the membership so they can take advantage of this?

    It's penalizing active members.

The app is horrendous, as the reviews online allude to but I still get an ROI on the subscription.

    • Why not give people 365 days to activate the membership so they can take advantage of this?

They are not targeting current users.

  • I just bought a single city two years voucher and went through the activation process. However it says something went wrong but didn’t tell me which bit I filled is wrong. Will wait for a bit before I go for another attempt.

    • still no luck. Rep, what will go wrong with that simple reg step? Are you able to look into this?

  • can you redeem in same franchise in different suburb. like cheesecake shop in few close suburbs?or only 1 time? cheers

    • check on the map in the app

  • Is this similar if you have the “instant savings” app which you get via hsbc ?

    • +1

Definitely similar…but there are also some key differences between the HSBC Instant Savings app and The Entertainment App:

      • Offers are of lesser value on the HSBC Instant Savings app vs The Entertainment App (e.g. 20% off, capped at $25 discount vs 50% off etc)
      • Offers can be redeemed daily on HSBC, on The Entertainment App it is once per Membership tenure (e.g. 12 Months, if a 12 Month Membership is purchased)
      • There are significantly more offers and merchants available on The Entertainment App vs HSBC Instant Savings
  • I rang the helpdesk before I bought it to ask if I could use the same code for a ticket to the Reptile Mark for a group of 5 adults.
She said, "yes, I don't see why not, there's nothing on here that says otherwise'.

I pay full price, the $120, show up there and they say, nope, sorry, just one code. So saved F*** all. I felt cheated.
