Noticed the pre-purchase option for the new XCOM finally appeared on Steam for $69.99.
GMG have it for $49.99 (including Elite pack pre-purchase bonus) and with the previously posted 25% discount code it takes it down to $37.50. The code is GMG25-1BW0K-K1A3G (Coupon is now extended to Sep 17th 11:00 UTC).

Game is released on Oct 12th. Have been waiting a long time for this remake - I still occasionally play the original (XCOM UFO Defense, released in 1994! lol), awesome game and it's looking like the developers have kept true to the original with this remake!

Enjoy!

Someone posted this yesterday or the day before and it was a repost.

Not someone, same poster. Maybe the mods said to post a specific deal using the coupon rather than a dupe coupon post, in which case we could be overrun with individual "deals" using the coupon which was posted days ago. Shrug.

    • yeah that was me. I had the coupon mentioned in the title which is I think(?) why it got binned as a repost - didn't see the coupon was already posted. However I just want to point out you can get XCOM cheaper than Steams $69.99 offer. Also it seems several other game titles are being posted from GMG with this coupon and aren't getting unpublished as dupes (i.e. - BL2, Footbal Mgr 2013). Beats me how this works shrugs

      • OP, I clicked on your affiliate link but it didn't take me anywhere but the home page, I registered and it didn't say anything about me getting $2 ?

  • Cheers, but I'm holding out for a deal on a physical copy.

  • If your interested keep an eye on the STEAM prepurchse I saw they had a 'rewards' system going [somehow feels like an idea stolen from Kickstarter/Indigogo] .. if the have enough pre orders at the the end you get a copy of CIV V.

If your interested and don't have both that could be quite good.

    • Actually from when I looked at the game last night till now (about 12 hours) the second Reward level has progressed 20% .. so if thats a 'day' then by the end of the week it should be in the third reward level with Civ V.

  • Fantastic price.

Chalk me in as another person who still plays the original X-Com on a semi regular basis, nearly 20 years on. I'm beyond stoked for this game.

I'm terribly tempted by this deal - my only problem was I was thinking of getting the Xbox version, as my only computer is a 2010 Macbook Pro laptop and i'm not sure how it will run… (I would have to boot it into Windows :/ )

    • It's had the reverse effect on me. Considering I've played the original through maybe 10 times, I don't feel like paying $37.50 for it again.

      Sub $20, I'll be there.

      • you should probably take a look at Xenonauts, it's the indie version remake, sticks much closer to the original gameplay, I think. Their preorder starts at $19.99

  • If i buy from GMG do you still get the steam pre order rewards? Or do i need to pre order from steam to get the pre order rewards?

  • sounds like this is a great game that i should not miss.

  • That coupon has been extended another week according to the GMG site.
