Changes to Coles Platinum Mastercard Complimentary Insurance Terms and Conditions

Received this email from Coles. How different it is to claim from Allianz compared to Latitude? Are you impacted by this change?

There are important changes to the complimentary insurances available with your Coles Platinum Mastercard® credit card account. There is an updated policy booklet, known as the Coles Platinum Mastercard® Complimentary Insurance Policy Information Booklet (Policy Information Booklet) and from 1 November 2023 this booklet replaces the Coles Platinum Mastercard® Complimentary Insurance Terms and Conditions as amended by Changes to your Coles Platinum Mastercard® Complimentary Insurance Terms and Conditions effective 15 July 2023 (Prior Policy).

We have extended the time for making a claim under the Prior Policy. If you have a claim under the Prior Policy for events which occurred on or before 31 October 2023 you have until 31 January 2024 to make that claim, see the details below.

It is important that you read the Policy Information Booklet for full details of the complimentary insurance covers available from 1 November 2023 and understand these changes as they impact the benefits that may be available to you, the maximum benefit limits applicable and the excess amounts on claims. The Policy Information Booklet is available here .

What are the changes?

Changes have been made to eligibility requirements and the level of cover you might be entitled to. There have also been changes to other provisions in the Policy Information Booklet, many of which amend the wording with the aim of making the information easier to read. Please read the Policy Information for full details.

The updates include:

• Events-based cover Claims under the prior policy: The cover in the Prior Policy applies to claims made on or after 15 July 2023. To make a claim under the Prior Policy go to www.travelclaims.com.au or access the claims form at https://claims.agaassistance.com.au/.

  • Does this mean the old account cover plus (which is separate, paid product if you have a balance outstanding) - discontinues? I haven't gotten any comms from latitude or Coles about this :D

    • Not sure, there is no mention about carrying over the balance from previous insurer (latitude). I put in the forum to find out the reaction from others.

  • +1

First I was shocked thinking these would impede on my old price protection 24 months cover, but I don’t believe this is the case (this one is referring to protection during trsvem etc)

    • Yeah, I read through the PDS for both this morning, and they can both be used; just not in aggregate. So for the first 90 days, use the complimentary, then after that the old account cover plus, I guess :)

  • I got this about a week ago, i'm pretty sure this refers to the 'new' shoppers protection that the card offered after the old one (latitude) was grandfathered, because some of the insurances the email was referring to isnt on the old cover

  • You have posted a bit of your credit card number if that is a worry for u

    • Thanks. I believe you were talking about last 4 numbers. Not an issue, but removed.

  • just today i noticed i didn't get charged the 3%(?) fee on my balance for the month…. anyone else see this?
