  I think when I worked for a PC retailer I got special discount that reduced the price of the 599 to $200, so $175 is cheaper than that.

  Why would you pay this much for a soundbar alone when you can get something like a Samsung Q990C, which comes with a dedicated sub and left & right surround channels?

  Also $2000 will get you a far better 5.1 speaker setup than any soundbar will deliver.

  Ambeo Max owner here. Bought mine second hand and whilst it is a beast and is a statement piece, you STILL need a sub for action movies IMO. Good thing is you can add almost any (I have a cheapo Yamaha). I reckon if buying new the top of the line Sammy (990c) is still hard to beat and offers just enough punch.

    How about the fidelity and the clarity of the ambeo tho? Is it worth the price tag. Would you still buy it again knowing what you know now or rather get an av receiver plus speakers at the same price range?

      It certainly gets loud and has great clarity and you can customize the presets and eq through the app. I haven't run much hifi audio through it yet unfortunately but it has all the support. It has the best upwards firing atmos channels I've heard in a soundbar that's for sure and has great room calibration with the mic. If paying $2699 and more into music however id still go the amp and speakers setup just for separation and potential punch.
