        On my PC

      • +7

Playing it on PC, how are you enjoying 30FPS?😅

In all honesty though, I Haven’t tested it in my XSX yet, is it laggy?

        • +2

30fps, and no mods to fix the dozen quality of life features that should be in the base game

        • +1

I hate 30fps, and Starfield runs actually pretty smooth. Frame timing is the important metric.
Obvs 60fps would be better. Digital foundry say its the CPU that holds it back from 60 @ 4k.

          Loving Starfield!

          I also own a PS5

      • +1

It's great on the PC, and I even play it on my phone now and then, no need to buy a console to play it. Xbox game pass is great, and don't need an Xbox for it ;-)

      • BWAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA…gold

        • +5

          ..wow…anyways…no one cares.

        • +14

LOL gotta love geeks arguing about whose console is better.

          Go outside

          • +13

@jay889344: Yeah go outside, start an argument about portable consoles!

Or what about the Nintendo Switch and their great games!

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of The Kingdom
          Super Mario Odyssey
          Metroid Dread
          Super Smash Bros Ultimate
          Xenoblade Chronicles Trilogy

Have fun with your $100 movies, Geoff Keighley bootlicker.

On his PC. So how you enjoying the 30fps lol

      • High levels of sodium in this thread!

    • +1

      How about both?

      • +1

        This is the way.

      • +1

        Or neither?

    • +3

Xbox is the bargain conscious gamers choice. I nabbed myself 3 years of Gamepass Ultimate for $120 odd last year when I bought mine, and my intention is to spend as little as possible. Sadly those prices are finished now, but still a decent amount cheaper than PS+ etc.

That said, this console launched at $750 almost 3 years ago so no deal here for me.

      • -2

XBOX game pass is the bargain conscious gamers choice ;-)
Paying $750 for a limited PC that can't play steam games isn't great.

        • +1

I traded my PS4 Pro when it was over valued, and used the cash to buy giftcards to get 6% extra off from EB games. I think the console cost me $200, and extra $120 for Gamepass. The way I see it, this is a stop gap to hold me over until I upgrade for a PC with a GTX50 series card (with an appropriate bargain, of course). The price was right… this price not so much.

          • @Poimandres: Haha I did the same, but for PS5 disc edition, ended up paying like $50 after amazon credit and zippay cashback, and selling my PS4 pro. And yes signed up for 4 years of xbox gamepass for about the same ~$130, and got 4 years of PS plus @$48 per year. There are too many games on PC to ignore IMO, so if I was given an option, I would have a PC first, then a console next and it would be the PS5 just for the exclusives and for having a console. Ideally you would have all consoles and PC.

            • @onlinepred: I'm glad all the first party stuff from both manufacturers is coming to PC these days… now we just need Nintendo to join the party (yeah right)

    • -1

PS owners are like the self-titled "PC master race", how cute.

      • +9

Most PS owners I know own a PC too, as they like games, so yea makes sense right?

    • +1

Xbox series x is the most powerful gaming console ever

  • +2

bought it for $587 last time, luckily I pulled the trigger

    • -1

      $587 for Xbox Series X?

      • +3

yes at the time it was 20% off if you spent more then $1,000 at costco

        • +18

That was a crucial part of your comment that was left out.

          • +1

@1r4n14n: yeah my bad but still, was so close to buying both ps5 & xbox x together

            • +1

@dirtyhen: All good :) That would’ve been a great idea, I can’t believe I missed out on this deal. I have entertained the idea of getting a PS5 as well but I have massive game anxiety with PS. Too many good games and not enough time to play them all.

    • The Series X has never been $587.

  • Good find considering it retails for $799.

  • +2

I got mine for $599 using Amex $150 cashback with $500 spend last Dec.
It was sold at $749 at the time.

    • -5

You didn't 'get it' for 599. You got it for 749, then got a cashback from Amex.

      • This is the kind of staff I need working at the Cashier.

  • +1

Everyone knows the best combo is PC+Ps5 ;)

    • +4

      ..and a Switch.

    • -1

I need Xbox for when finish on PC and want to continue playing in the home cinema.
      XSX+PC+PS5+NS.

  • +1

I’m not trying to turn this into a console war, but if it weren’t for Sony’s exclusives, MS would’ve ruined them by now. Yes, I understand “but it’s literally a gaming console bro”, but everything else I hate about Sony. The UI, the look of console, the controller, I could go on.

    • +2

100%. I hate that I have to own it, and much prefer the design of the X, but yea PS5 + PC for now. I wonder how long it will last. To be fair though, I also dislike Microsoft, and don't want them to dominate the market, as they will simply buy everything up. This is the main reason I have a PC for steam and xbox, and a PS5 for console. PS exclusives for some are just too good to ignore, while you can get your xbox fix on a PC

      • +4

Yep don't need an Xbox to play Xbox games lol

        • You don't need a Playstation to play Playstation games

    • +6

Not for current generation at least. Sony won the PS4 generation. Even Phil Spencer himself in his own words said it didn't matter if we had the games, we were never going to compete against Sony this generation because last generation was the digital library generation which a lot of people built up and wanted to take to their next console. That was a very big part of how Sony dominated with the PS5 at least.

      • +5

The PS5 continues to dominate because it's been well over a decade since we've seen a legit first party banger for the Xbox…

        • +2

IMO Microsoft should have leaned way harder into Windows. Imagine if the Series X could dual boot into well optimised console OS or Windows. Play the console games you like for that fantastic price/performance you can only get on a console, but then play indy games on steam or even use it as a regular PC when you boot into windows.

Even better, allow game purchases in the microsoft/xbox store to be playable on both platforms.

          • +3

@nigel deborah: "Even better, allow game purchases in the microsoft/xbox store to be playable on both platforms."

            Some do….

            • @naphman: Oh, I didn't know that, besides game pass. What is an example?

              • @nigel deborah: I read up a while ago on "Play Anywhere" games - not across what ones, but there are some they say.

I think Halo Infinite and Sea of Thieves were some.

                Plus yes the game pass.

          • +1

@nigel deborah: Takes me back to the 90s with rumours of a Microsoft console and that same kind of speculation went around assuming total compatibility with physical PC media. XBX does have developer mode available to all, that does open it up to more software possibilities.

          • +1

@nigel deborah: Play Anywhere has been around for about … 8 years ? at least since Gears of War 4/ Forza Horizon 3 and Recore.

            https://www.trueachievements.com/xbox-play-anywhere/games?or…

The exception tends to be some of the Game Pass Ultimate (XGPU) games can have different PC/XSX releases, so some games are XGPU released on Console but not PC and vice versa. This allows dual-play, i.e. Starfield for Xbox is Play Anywhere, and Game Pass, but the PC release is for Steam, YMMV.

It generally depends on the publisher being able to make things difficult for themselves and everyone else by separating the Store listing for different reasons, and also being able to hijack the listing on the various stores to put games 'on sale' for different regions, i.e. localised market pricing in India/JP/Mexico, or Regional lockouts of games to avoid keysellers profiting.

This idiosyncrasy also shows up with Bundles / Game Pass / Sales / XB1/XSX copies, et al.

Publishers can, by mistake or intention, separate the PS4 and PS5 versions in the store, sell the bundle at a different regional price, et al. Multiple copies of the same game can show up in the store, despite owning "one" of the 10 different Store versions because they create and flood the store with bundles i.e. Ultimate/Premium/Gold/Galactic/Unrivaled/Legacy/Super/Supreme/Extreme/Platinum, et al.

For this reason, sometimes you aren't able to get the Play Anywhere PC bundle, because you unknowingly bought the game on sale, which wasn't tied to the PA feature, sic. Call of Duty, and a few EA games did this, sic.

And it's the same for PSN where you have 8 or 9 copies of Subnautica or Control, because they have different Store ID's for the various bundle/console/country, as well as country specific ID's for bundles, PS Plus, the "Free PS Plus" version of the game and so on.

  • Why this black box still selling for rrp I'd never understand..

  • +2

It's $799 from Microsoft, worth considering if you have Amex $550/$100 offer.

It's excluded from 7% CR, in case the pop up gets you excited.
