Still no class 4 deals like last time?

    • +4

      Hi wildstone,

We don't keep much stock for the class 4 ones.
I can do below prices if it's acceptable.

      8GB: $4.95
      16GB: $9.95

      SDHC Class 4:

      32GB: $20.95

      Cheers

I'm after the 2x 4GB, can you do a deal on that and free shipping? Or if not, free shipping on those above?

        • +1

Yes, the prices include free shipping.
Can you send me a OZB msg with your Paypal email address, i ll issue an invoice requesting for payment shortly.

Good deal. Do any of the micro SD cards come with a decent jewel case? My last one I ordered just came with the SD adapter in a flat plastic cover. They used to be sold in these, why no more?

      Hi Jonaseymour,

We still have those in Class 4, Class 6 & Class 10 comes in retail packaging. No more in plastic package.

      Cheers

      • +1

That answer confused me… So they come with the jewel case? Because the 64GB Class 10 I ordered about 2 weeks ago didn't have one…

        • +2

Sorry, i meant only Class 4 (Micro SD) comes in jewel case + SD adapter.

Class 6 & Class 10 cards are all in retail packaging.

          Cheers,
          Francesca

        • +1

          AH okay, makes sense. Thanks!

    • Don't stress too much, Jonaseymour - you can pick up 10 for $1.19 from this Chinese eBay seller. Less than 12 cents each.
It still boggles my mind that any profit whatsoever can be made on selling these things at such a ridiculously low price.

      • lol, yeah I just looked and picked that exact item up. Crazy!

      Hi,

I'm sorry i can't do a credit on purchased & received goods, memory prices are volatile & they move up and down.
It also depends on the strong dollar at that point of goods that i purchased.
We make very low margin on these already, sorry i'm not of much help here.

      Cheers,
      Francesca

Can I whack a 64GB into a Transformer Infinity SD slot and use it without issues?
    Which is the BEST option?

  • +1

Last time I purchased from Memory City I received it in a rather odd packaging.

It was just a box, memory-card sealed in plastic inside.

At first I thought it may have been fake/non-genuine but after trying it seemed to work fine (as well as my other card I bought retail).

Does anyone know where they source their memory cards, and why they have such odd packaging?

    • +6

      Hi Sturmeh,

Those are the micro SD in bulk packaging, these are the version released by SanDisk for mobile manufacturer / telco across the world.
I managed to cater supplies for the bulk packaging at better prices so i brought it in and pass the bargains to local buyers.

Apart from Micro SD that comes in bulk plastic packaging, and some SDHC Class 4.
All of the other models will come in original SanDisk retail packaging.

Hope this clears up your query.

      Cheers,
      Francesca

      • The packaging it came in is much larger than the one you find in retail stores.

Can you confirm this is what you are referring to: http://i.imgur.com/yKWmr.jpg

EDIT: I know it's genuine, but it just seemed odd.

        • Hi,

SanDisk releases different type of packaging in batch.
The same model produced in 2011 could have the old packaging and 2012 with a new one.
It also depends on product demand & supply, if the model is under market shortage we will be getting EU/US type of packaging which is slightly bigger than AP version.

Hope that clears it up for you.
          Cheers,
          Francesca

Can we pay with "express paypal" checkout? (without having to sign for another account)?

    • +1

      Hi m2000,

You can always use the guest checkout and direct you to paypal page for payment.
That stage doesn't require you to sign up an account, it would just take your information and resend them back to our backend system with your name, shipping details, payment confirmation, etc

Can you beat $65 on USB 3.0 64GB stick?

    • +2

      Hi lostn,

Unfortunately not at this stage, the specials was from distributor last 1-2 weeks price only.
Only a few retailers managed to catered some stock at low price.
The price is back up to $7x without delivery.

Scorptec sells it for $65 + $10 shipping which comes to $75.
My deal is still better with Free Shipping.
If Sydney customers would want to pick up for this model, i ll be around Epping/Carlingford area offering this model only for $65.

      Cheers,
      Francesca

      • arrrrr!!! I've just bought my 64GB stick yesterday from shopping square ebay for $69~~!!

We have 2-3 pending dispute case at the moment, i will check it out for you.
Sometime it could be courier service fault, we have lost worth over $1k value of goods using Australia Post Express Post, eParcel, Registered Post service without any compensation.
There is this insurance & transit cover which will cost about $1.5-$3 per $100 value.

      I'm always here to help.

I heard that something along the lines of 17,000 items of registered mail go 'missing' each year while in the hands of Australia Post. This is going back a year or two. May be even worse now.

        • Hi,

I ll put your case as first priority once i get back to work tomorrow morning.
Leave it with me i ll get it sorted out for you.

          Cheers,
          Francesca

        • +1

          Hi,

That's right, we happened to came across these issue over the few months of trading:-

          1) Mail not delivered, been sent to dead letter office

          2) Lost in transit without tracking number showing up on their tracking page, no compensation from them

          3) Express Post lost a few times without tracking number updated, no compensation from them as well

          4) many more…

          • And they will be telling us sender to wait up for up to 2 weeks of investigation period before they could make a decision on the case we lodged.

          • Most of the time, came back saying "We are sorry, couldn't allocate the package and we can credit you back with the amount of postage charges paid"
The cost of goods alone could be somehow between $50-$200 and the compensation only covers less than $4 postage.

However, it is still the easiest and cheapest way to ship orders via Australia Post to entire country.

          Francesca

  • Just bought SanDisk 64GB Extreme Pro SDHC Class 10 - $179.95, for my new Nikon D3200.

    • Just curious, why did you go for the Extreme Pro?

      • Hi Francesca. Site wouldn't let me reply above.
You should have put number 4 as number 1, with number 4 of course being theft. Australia Post has acknowledged in the past that it has a significant issue with workers nicking stuff, and registered mail generally implies 'valuables enclosed'.
I bought several memory cards over time from Crazysales back when they were competitive on price. All came in the normal mail and none ever went astray.
Have you tried the regular mail and had big problems? I actually prefer this as an option given that getting to the post office during business hours is an issue for me at the moment (and many other people I suspect). Cheers.

        • "workers nicking stuff, and registered mail generally implies 'valuables enclosed'."

I was thinking wouldn't it be the other way around too? Regular is untraceable so they steal those, but they could also potentially take the registered mail too (not scan barcode into system at sorting centre). Actually they could take any mail provided they have a rough idea of whats inside due to size, weight…

        • A small lump in an envelope in the regular mail is less likely to be perceived as anything of any significant value, whereas a lump in a registered post envelope is more likely to be imagined as being a piece of jewellery, a clutch of giftcards, or a high-end memory card.

What's the difference between buying from you and Shopping Square ? Shopping Square's price is less 5c. I know 5c is so tiny, but I guess Shopping Square is a bigger scale shop ? Anyone knows whether SS is genuine supply ?

    • +5

Shopping square have less customers asking stupid questions.

    • +1

Shopping Square mostly ships from China and therefore you will have about a three week wait on anything you order. Plus they are shockingly unreliable. I have ordered three items from them - two didn't arrive and the third was completely different to the description. Then their customer support is also horrendous.

Memory City on the other hand, is fast, reliable and has some of the best customer service I've ever seen in an online retailer. Worth an extra 5c? I would say yes.

    SanDisk 32GB Ultra Micro SD Class 10 - $27.95

The price via the link is actually $2 more ($29.95)?

    • Hi,

I have sold off the cheap stock for 32GB, the balance ones would be $29.95.
The 64GB is a bargain price (in fact cheapest in AU), around 100pcs left.

      Cheers,
      Francesca

      • Thanks for the explanation at this time of night.

  • Please help me decide…

Should I be getting this so that I can get use the card in my phone to view photos I've taken using my pocket camera?
    http://www.memorycity.com.au/sandisk/148-sandisk-16gb-mobile…

Or do you think I should buy this specifically for camera use?
    http://www.memorycity.com.au/sandisk/28-sandisk-extreme-hd-v…

I don't do much burst shots. The camera is not particularly good for burst shots anyway. It's an Olympus XZ-1. I also do my HD videos mostly on my phone.

    • +1

      Hi,

Since you are doing most of your HD videos on your phone and if you don't mind bringing the SD adapter along with you then going for the micro SD is better IMO.

      Cheers,
      Francesca

      • how much does it sacrifice in terms of speed when I go the MicroSD way?

Is the speed stated on the MicroSD spec also achievable when using the SD Card converter (in my camera as an example)?

        • Hi,

For speed, both have minimum r/w speed of 10MB/s as they are both Class 10 cards.
Yes, if you are using micro SD converted into SD it will still produce min r/w of 10MB/s up to 30MB/s for micro sd & 45MB/s for extreme hd video.

          Cheers,
          Francesca

  • so many choices,I got a SanDisk 8GB Ultra Micro SD Class 10.
