210

seems like all the other deals on here are expired now so thought id repost. fanatec have been teasing some interesting stuff on there socials the past few days. finally we should see the qr2 this coming week and maybe even a new wheel base. I'm unsure if they'll be putting the prices back up for the csl dds but for now there about the best value console/pc dd base on the market. copying the last posts description below thanks to dealoverlord for writing it up.

ADD ANY BUNDLE + A EXTRA CSL DD TO GET 2 FOR THE DISCOUNTED PRICE OF $335.90EA

The best value combination in my opinion is replacing the entry DD wheel with the McLaren Starter Wheel for open wheel/GT3 Racing for $815.7 + Delivery: https://fanatec.com/au-en/ready2race/csl-dd-ready2race-mclar…
Other combinations include:

CSL DD Ready2Race F1 Esports Bundle for PC $965.75 + Del: https://fanatec.com/au-en/ready2race/csl-dd-ready2race-f1-es…
CSL DD Ready2Race F1 Esports Premium Bundle for PC (8 Nm + Load Cell) $1299 + Del: https://fanatec.com/au-en/ready2race/csl-dd-ready2race-f1-es…

This is just the normal pricing at this point.
It's been like this for a while. Pretty sure they're trying to clear out stock for something new.
Hence why you can't just buy the base without buying a bundle.

    • yeah im waiting till next week to buy something as i do believe a new base is coming out. but at this price its still the best value dd system for xbox

      • The ozbargain in me discovered if you add a CSL DD ready to race bundle (eg GT3 $815), the included pedals and wheel trigger this deal for an extra CSL DD.

Note - Doesnt work for playstation "DD Pro" bundles as it doesn't show wheels/pedals as separate items

Ie you can get 2x CSL DD for $336 each, only buying 1x pedal and 1x wheel rim.

        • Thats what the title is about :P

          • @[Deactivated]: You're missing my point.

U can get 2x CSL DD for $336 each only buying 1x rim and 1x pedal.

When i bought my $815 bundle, i added an additional CSL DD for only $336 extra but then sold this brand new in box for $500. This saved someone else $123, and saved me a further $164.

Ie my $815 bundle just became $651 with minimal effort and someone else also got a saving than buying direct themselves

Normally there is no way to buy a CSL dd for $336, either has to be in a ready to race bundle or adding wheel and rim to cart as per this deal. I discovered you can trigger both $264 discounts twice with a loop hole

            • @D1Vad: Again, thats exactly what the title is saying you can do.
And the description of the deal in more detail.

"ADD ANY BUNDLE + A EXTRA CSL DD TO GET 2 FOR THE DISCOUNTED PRICE OF $335.90EA"

              • @[Deactivated]: My mistake, i see that section now. But its not the title, its in the description.

I reported this loop hole on the previous posts/deals. Maybe OP got it from there

                • @D1Vad: i did thankyou for your service

                  • @bob98: Awesome. Thanks for getting it out there more.

            • @D1Vad: what were AU shipping times like? seen on the fanatec reddit some horror storys overseas recently

              • @bob98: I did 2 fanatec orders:

                1. Ordered 6 Aug
                  Ship tracking 11 Aug
                  delivered 14 Aug

                2. Ordered 17 Aug
                  Ship tracking 21 Aug
                  Delivered 23 Aug

Quick and easy experience both times for me.

No point in getting the 8nm kit. Can buy them on aliexpress for $50-60.

      • +2

yep its literally just the 5nm with a brick to power it at 8nm

      • Or make one for $25

      • +2

Got my Ali express power kit this week. For $55 well worth the upgrade. At $180 I’d struggle to see the value

        • Yeah, I saw reddit ors worried that it might short but I think aus standards are decent.

What else did you get? Is the QC good?

  • +1

any recommendations for ps5 compatible setup? im thinking about the thrustmaster tgt2 or the fanatec dd. although fanatec is way more expensive…

    • +1

tgt2 still belt driven? if so id go for the fanatec over it

    • +1

Thrustmaster tgt2 with T-LCM pedals would be really good if you can get a good price for them.

But might worth it spending more to get DD

  • No clutch? 😔

    • +1

$59-$259 extra welcome to the fanatec rabbit hole/eco system

      • I looked into it a couple months ago. I was very close to getting the bundle but also getting the simjack pedals and a third party shifter.

  • This or the moza equivalent?

    • what you planning to use it on console or pc?

      • Pc

        • +1

no real experience but from what i hear id go moza if playing pc

          • @bob98: Simagic > Moza > Fanatec

          • @bob98: A lot of negative feedback recently towards moza on the internet as well.

  • Would it be overkill to use something like this for Wipeout? Haha. Cool gear but I don't have space for it, maybe someday!

  • How much would 5nm torque be? Similar to the arcade racing simulators in the malls?

    • +1

      Considerably more

    • +2

Way more. I had the CSL Elite v2 base which was about 5nm from memory, and the amount of force was close to a real car with decent power steering and the detail was absurd compared to the Logitech options at the time which likely exceed arcade machines.

    • +1

      Finger breaking.. 😅

      • are they actually that powerful? i want to get the podium version just for the emergency stop button haha

        • +2

Yeah, I've read stories of people fracturing fingers getting caught in the wheel.. 😅

  • -8

Why would anyone buy this over the logitech G923?

    • +1

90% of people go from a logitech to these myself included more torque and a more real experience

    • +1

      because its direct drive.
Wears down a LOT LESS, more power, more accurate in power distribution etc.

    • Because not everyone has the OzBargain mindset

    • The responsiveness, detail and strength of the force feedback is much much better with a direct drive wheel. I wouldn't even bother with a belt or gear driven wheel at this point considering how much more affordable direct drive has become.

    • Why would anyone buy a ferrari over a prius?

      • Because they are rich!

    • I just upgraded from g29. Major improvement. 15 mins in dropped over a second off my best time in a track (I did get csl elite v2 pedals over standard though). Apart from the food back accuracy and power, the absence of the notchy gears in the Logitech was best improvement. Well worth it but the whole “may as well get that extra” did take it for. The base $640 price to $1500 (shipping is never free with Fanatec)

  • Consider getting the 5nm version and buying a boost kit from AliExpress, and then selling the original power supply. This will essentially net you a free upgrade to 8nm.

  • +1

If anyone buying the McLaren rim don get the metal quick release (qr1). Fanatec social announced the would be news on qr2 this week which has been long awaited and supposed to better than current offering.

    • ive got a strange feeling that the release will cost the same as that mclaren wheel if not more.

    • Wow thanks for this comment, totally missed their insta hype posts for QR2. I got mclaren wheel with QR lite in case QR2 comes. Super happy with deals i got reselling brand new CSL DDs so happy to use those savings on QR2.

But i wonder if they will sell CSL DDs straight up with the QR2, might be savings there people too. Unless these salea have been to clear out the CSL DD qr1 models

  • +2

Crap.. time to sell my barely used CSW 2.5. However, I've always wanted the GT3 wheel too.

So judging by comments, I should grab the 5nm option and resell the extra 5nm? Grab a boost kit from Ali with some cash in hand?

Or should I just wait for a new release and maybe grab a cheap DD unit by itself in a few months from Gummy/Marketplace?

Usually Fanatec only have their big yearly sale just around Black Friday time..

    • i think that will be your best bet to get it the cheapest. im contemplating doing it also i seen a used csl dd sell on marketplace for 550

    • Buy two discounted wheel bases and sell the second one for extra $

      • I'm thinking it might be a little tricky to flog with the influx of others doing the same, along with Fanatecs' yearly Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales coming up, along with the new releases, might just might make waiting a decent gamble too. I myself am super lazy to resell things too.. 😅 Considering how little use my previous model had, I might just wait it out for then. It's $1,152 (excluding shipping) and $1,198 to Metro VIC for anyone wondering. So if I could get about $500 for the spare 5nm, I'd only be saving like $150ish at best right now trying to upgrade. Assuming $815 is the normal price for the McLaren wheel bundle.

Bentley wheel should hopefully be dropping this week aswell. fanatec have basically 100% confirmed its the qr2 releasing

  • Would anyone be kind enough in Sydney to add the loadcell to their pedal kit for me?
It would save $30 off the csl pedal kit and $49 off the load cell as I already have a pedal kit, we'd both be saving! Happy to throw in bit extra for shipping.
Please PM if you can help.

    Thanks

  • QR2 is indeed released.

$270 or $190 for most people (depends on your needs).

    https://fanatec.com/au-en/cat/index/sCategory/192?utm_medium…

    • fanatec couldnt organise a fck in a brothel. went oos nearly instantly yesti now pre order for the 20th of nov

      • +1

EXACTLY as you'd expect (except that they have a 2023 date, not a 2024 one :-)

        • even the qr1 is gone now :( was going to purchase to get things on the cheaper side but the setup with qr2 will be close to 1500 aud now :(

          • @bob98: Yeah, they've clearly pulled them (as you'd expect). Still, QR2 does look significantly better for that $270…

            • @mickeyjuiceman: some people were saying they should be available for the 1-2 years where fanatec does the changeover. $270 is a crazy amount of money for a quick release imo. but i guess people are willing to pay it seen simcube or one of the brands pedal sets were 5000 euro

              • +1

@bob98: The new QR-lite looks decent, but I think I'd step up to the mid-level one. The Pro seems super-pointless unless you want to say you've got the Pro, I guess.

                • @mickeyjuiceman: yeah i was considering the lite yesti but for the extra $70 or so id 100% want the full metal one. boosted media was saying theres probably under 10 people in the world that actually need the pro. at this point its just a dick swinging contest on reddit about the whole thing ahahaha

                  • @bob98: Exactly. And price-anchoring - the Pro makes the middle option look more reasonable :-)

          • +1

@bob98: QR1's are already showing up on ebay as people dump em. Someone selling 6 for $60 ea. right now.

Figure I can wait and see if there is a price drop on the new one and if not, stay with QR1 and pick up second hand when I add another wheel (working well enough for me already).

            • +1

@EthicsGradient: thanks legend just managed to pick 2 up for $80 shipped. what a barg guess i wont be seeing the qr2 for at least a year or so now.
