The shipping estimate tool may tell you they don't ship to your address, but they actually do when you go to check out

FYI - these things are utter trash. I fitted out my house with these a few years ago (about 20 units total). I have 3 that still function correctly (i.e., still connect to wifi to allow control of colours etc). Unless there have been significant improvements on the design and reliability I'd avoid them like the plague.

LED globes in general run fairly hot, if I had to guess the wifi module is probably poorly shielded from the hot parts and failing as the lights generally kept working, just lost connectivity. I'm pretty disappointed as I usually swear by anything with Xiaomi branding.

    • arent LED globes meant to run cooler ?

      • +1

Cooler but it still gradually gets hotter as energy keeps getting pumped in to it. It's kinda like how exposed pavement changes temperature over the course of a hot day (whereas incandescent bulbs are like a frying pan getting heated i.e faster). In both cases heat is what's causing the products to fail; LED's because of their internal circuitry and incandescent because of their filament melting

There was a lightbulb cartel back in the day that agreed not to manufacture lightbulbs with over 1000 hours (partially for planned obsolescence and partly for optimum lightbulb functionality). Unrelated but I thought it was fun and easier to understand than that first paragraph

    • I've been using the Freshin ones from Amazon and they've worked pretty well

      A couple cons:
I've noticed that my ceiling light struggles to stay connected and will enter pairing mode again every couple of days. Pairing mode sucks because it just alternates between on and off at a rate that's a bit too quick for my liking and you have to go back in to the app to reconnect it

The automatic colour changing is also trash, instead of easing from one colour to the next it just changes colours (like green one second, purple the next). I don't use those features for that reason

App's not bad aside from that, bulbs have good colour/brightness range (probably the same as most others on the market)

For the cost of $15 for two I was pleased enough. Thanks for reading my review, sorry it didn't cover how hot they get

      • How did you get $15 for 2? i just bought $50 for 4 today and installed!

Set the Scene to "Gorgeous" that's the one where it spectrum cycles/fades thru rainbow.

I've had five for 6 years. Think they're awesome. Never had an issue. Possibly you've set them to the wrong region or some other issue.

      • Same here, the Meross smart bulbs I bought had issues and eventually died - I've had no issues with any of the 6-7 Xiaomi smart bulbs, installed across different houses for friends and family across the last 5-6 years.

      • The specific model I purchased was "YLDP06YL 10W RGB WiFi Smart Light Bulb", I purchased 17 of them in 2018. Not sure if that is the same model as OP.

14 out of 17 is a huge failure rate. Followed the setup correctly, its a modern house in a new estate, no other voltage supply qualiity issues etc. Maybe I'm just extraordinarily unlucky and received a god-awful batch.

        • Did you get them from the official site or Ali express. It could have been an electrical surge reduced the longevity of them or just a bad batch. Electronics are funny..

    • I've got 3, no issues going on 5+ years. One linked to the front door opening gets the most use and hasn't skipped a beat. You are right about heat in general affecting electronics but touch wood mine are fine.

    • YMMV. I've had several of these in operation since late 2017, coming up on 6 years. All still working perfectly fine, no noticeable loss of brightness.

    60% Xiaomi Yeelight

what happen with remaining 40% of product?

  • These are good enough if you are planning on having dim lighting.

  • I've had one of these for a while. I find is makes a really high pitch sound when on the most white setting it can go.

Fitted the rest of the house out with Fresh in bulbs and haven't had the same problem.

    • Fresh in bulbs

is it just me or it seems to get hot fast ?

  • Would it be alright to put this in a dimmable socket?

  • Out of stock. @ozdfo any chance of some more?

  • Yes, any more?

Does anyone have recommendations for a brighter smart bulb? I've used exclusively Yeelights for years so not sure whats out there.
