  • Would these be good for running in the city, on hard surfaces?

Hoping to get someone more savvy to chime in - I surely need well-cushioned shoes, preferably profiled inside (but I have insoles for that too).

If you're talking about the Mujin I mean you could, but I probably wouldn't, they're on the heavier side and real really not designed for it. The Daichi is closer to a running shoe just with extra grip, but is meant for trail running. Mizuno does make actual running shoes, but I haven't tried them. I usually go with new balance, because I have wider feet.

My recommendation would go to athletes foot or a podiatrist (although if you have insoles you may already see one) and do some tests to see how you walk and then get some recommendations then come back here to ozbargain and find a good deal. Because reviewers online can say a certain shoe is great or I can say "these shoes are the best" but that's for my specific feet, walking style/stride and cadence. Online reviews are good for seeing the pros and cons of certain shoes, but it really comes down to your own feet.

      • All fair enough, thanks. And yeah, I should probs use some pro advice re particular shoes I'm about to buy

My recommendation would go to athletes foot or a podiatrist

        • Yeah, there are so many options to buy and most of them are pretty expensive to just randomly try, and depending on the store can be a pain to return.

          • @jordan23140: I found the outlets to be pretty good, went birkenhead few weekends ago and there were lot of shoe stores you can just walk in and start trying things on, of course it might not have top models for certain brands but you get left alone for the most part and get to try on whatever catches your eye.

cushioning alone isn't the most important part i'm pretty sure, but testing out different shoes can help narrow down what you like and don't like etc

            • @kirbycake: Yeah, thats a good idea. As my podiatrist said, she can make all the recommendations, but If I don't like how the shoe feels, then it doesn't matter how 'good' it is.

  • There will be some codes for like 5-10% off.

    My opinion:

    WARNING ON MIZUNO

    Manufacturer warranty isn't worth shit.

I reported the sole peeling at 6 months and 2 days.
They told me they warrant only 6 months.
They came up with totally inappropriate crap like 6 months being a reasonable warranty period (nobody I know is forced to replace shoes every 6 months) and that they can't be used for other things (like can't wear runners in an office because they're designed to be runners NOT used in an office.. apparently my 1000 steps a day in an office is worse than me running in them.. lol)

They also verbally admitted to me their glue doesn't last in water so forget winter running.

If they aren't willing to warrant past 6 months then what kind of product are they selling and why is their QA not good enough for 12 months?

    • Quote the ACL.

      • My opinion:

I did. The ACL doesn't provide minimum warranty period. It becomes 'He said' 'she said'. They're wrong, IMHO they know it, they're bastards about it.

    • I had problems with my shoes peeling after 3 months and they were absolutely horrible to deal with. They didn't want to replace the shoe and instead only wanted to give a voucher that would partially cover the cost of replacement. The voucher was only for $100 but the the replacement shoe was $170! They also had me cut the tongues off the shoes to prove that they woulen't be used anymore… I had to argue and threaten before finally being given a replacement. Will never buy Mizuno again, just completely unacceptable customer service.
