Quite a decent price through RonaRigs via Amazon AU at $304 delivered. On RonaRigs' direct website it is currently $329 delivered.

I was considering the Dell HD22Q Dual Charge Dock but my desk is cluttered enough as it is so I ended up grabbing the WD22TB4 with a Dell MK15 Docking Station Mounting Kit and it now sits tucked away very nicely behind my Ultrasharp monitor.

Nice deal, got mine for the same price. 3*4k monitors and one at 100Hz. Have had issues where 120Hz 4k only work withs DisplayPort/certain HDMI and DisplayPort combinations (thunderbolt/usbc to DisplayPort/HDMI 2.1 cable didn't work only direct DisplayPort worked)

Works well, ask me if you have any questions

    • This can do 4 monitors at 60hz, correct?

      • +1

I don't think you can, I think only 3x 4k60Hz and 1x4k30Hz (assuming using a Thunderbolt 4 port on your laptop or PC). Googling Thunderbolt 4 specs it seems like 4x 4k60Hz is possible, but the manual suggests it will not work so I wouldn't risk it without trying (maybe buy a refund, or buy a more expensive Caldigit dock).

        Page 19 https://www.dell.com/support/manuals/en-au/wd22tb4-dock/dell…

    • From the looks of it, it is display port 1.4 but only hdmi 2.0.
      Maybe this is the reason?

      • Its actually a bit more complicated reason in my case, in the user manual

        Page 12 https://www.dell.com/support/manuals/en-au/wd22tb4-dock/dell…

it shows configurations, and you can't do 2 HDMI and 1 Thunderbolt, pretty random

        • I have a WD19 and it can only do 2x 4K60 in a very specific cable config (DP and TB ports only)

I dont have deep technical knowledge of how TB works but I think its because of how the lanes get divvied up within the thunderbolt protocol (based on my research before I bought my WD19). HDMI seems to always be the odd one out and does not support multiple 4K60 displays. you usually need to use the TB/DP ports as the protocols used there (DP++) all fit within the TB data lanes whereas HDMI does not.

Theres other compromises too around USB transfer speeds but not really relevant here.

  • Does it work with m2 MacBook Pro? Without extra software?

    • +1

Won't need extra software, but there are limitations:

      • Base M1/M2: only supports 1 external monitor
      • M1/M2 Pro or Max: will do 2 external monitors, but the second one has to be connected to one of the Thunderbolt ports

      https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-au/000124312/dell-thun…

    • Using with a M1 MBP - No extra software. Also works with USB-C devices with DP alt-mode - eg: DeX, Steam Deck.

Have had issues with a previous version of this dock where it wouldn't charge over USB C. Have had better mileage with the Targus docks, which happily power my Ultrabook and mobile workstation over USB C (if you only need 2 screens). The quad screen Targus is a bit pricey.

Thunderbolt and USB C isn't the same thing and it shouldn't be thought of as overlapping just because the plug is the same. If you want USB C then you get a USB C dock.

Vietnamese Jesus has spoken. We must buy.

  • Can this do 4k 120?

    • That's a weird angle to use your monitor on.

    • Yep, but for me only with specific settings.

I have the Dell 32 4K UHD Gaming Monitor - G3223Q, and it works when connecting direct DisplayPort, but even with a DisplayPort to Thunderbolt 4 cable I it was limited to 100Hz, I might have been doing someting wrong tho.

      • Thanks for the response. I have the same monitor. Have you tried it with HDMI?

  • With the mounting kit you can also modify if to work with many more Dell monitors. Have a look at the first Amazon review.

You could also look for a compatible monitor stand, though, the weight of the other monitor would need to be similar. You could also adjust the tension spring, though, this could be a challenge to get to.

  • Also good FYI, I got these and stuck it under my desk for cleaner look https://www.bunnings.com.au/command-large-white-adhesive-pic…

  • One cable to my m1 macbook for charging, display, mouse, keyboard, audio gears, mic. One of the best buy so far for my setup.

  • Is this better than Belkin ?

That one is Thunderbolt 3 not 4, Google/ChatGPT the differences. The main thing is you can't support as high resolution/as high refresh rate/as many monitors with Thunderbolt 3

      Thunderbolt 4:
Supports up to two 4K displays at 60Hz.
Alternatively, can support one 8K display at 60Hz.
Enhanced video bandwidth with DisplayPort 1.4.
Mandatory support for dual 4K displays.
Provides a minimum data transfer rate of 40Gbps.
Requires Intel VT-d based DMA protection.
Support for docks with up to 4 Thunderbolt 4 ports.
Mandatory PC charging on at least one port for laptops up to 100W.

      Thunderbolt 3:
Supports up to two 4K displays at 60Hz.
Alternatively, can support one 5K display at 60Hz.
Uses DisplayPort 1.2, but can also support DisplayPort 1.4.
Dual 4K display support is optional, depending on the device.
Data transfer rates up to 40Gbps.
Optional support for USB 3.1 (10Gbps) and DisplayPort alternate mode.
Can connect to any dock, display, or data device using a Thunderbolt 3 port.

  • I had an earlier version thunderbolt dock working with a hp laptop. Worked MOST of the time.
Anyways wth that earlier version you could only do firmware updates on the dock from a dell laptop.
Does anyone know if the same restrictions apply to this unit.

    • Don't recall ever having an issue updating a WD19TB/TBS with a non-Dell device (ie. Surface Pro)

      • Interesting. Can you provide any more info. In.my case the firmware update for the DELL dock I had refused to run because it was not on a DELL laptop. I had to get a mate with one to do the update.

  • I have it and it's been great. No issues.
