    Marketing seems very deceptive

IDK how fares could be from $165 if the taxes are $180+ from sydney

Presume they've got certain dates that are cheaper (sold at a loss) so that they can claim the price.

      • If you are flexible, you can book a trip now. I'm seeing good dates in February. Just don't expect to take the kids in school holidays.

    • Don’t they need a minimum number of flights to keep their gates? Flights sold at a slight loss might be better than empty flights.

    • -5

Its actually cheaper for some companies like Vietjet, Qatar etc to lose money on flights than it is to lose the rights to land and its very hard to get that right back. Qatar were flying empty planes over to Australia as to not lose the route. Absolutely rubbish rule from an absolute rubbish Government.

      • +3

Slot requirements at airports such as Sydney were waived over covid. There were plenty of airlines other than Qatar who were not flying at all to Australia over that period who did not lose their slots.

If you're talking about flights allowed by Air service agreements (e.g. the current issue with Qatar in the news), this is unaffected by whether they are used or not, and there is no risk of losing them if unused.

I wonder if you know what you are talking about. 😂

We all enjoy the great tech that Taiwan provided to us but funny how little of its issues we read or care about:

          https://www.theguardian.com/world/2022/aug/23/hundreds-of-ta…

And its not just Taiwan, PRCs get caught in the mess too, why you think all of a sudden Thailand is giving PRCs visa free travel?

Funny how many of the criminal gang are run by Chinese across Thailand, Cambodia Vietnam Malaysia and Philippines. Saddly they are target their own kind most of the time. May be that's why some of you never heard about it or you fell safe there because you are non Asian.

I just came back from vietnam a month ago and it was amazing. Vietjet was good too..no hiccups or delays.

I went with with 3 others and purchased some luggage. Just did the same quote and is only $200 more. Sooooo tempted but will probably give it a miss. Amazing price though! MEL to HCM in august 2024 is cheap. There's options to find the lowest fares.. look for dates with $0 (it'll add tax later) and the final page there's a "utility cost"

Worked out to be $1643 for 4 people this time with all added fees.
-40kg total for all 4 passengers going there.
    -2 x 40kg total for all 4 passengers.

There's no limit how many pieces per luggage purchased. So we all used 10kg each going there and 20kg back.

And there's also "free" 2kg handcarry (on top of the 7kg) so it's 9kg which is a nice bonus.

That being said. They never weighed our hand carry.

    Again. Sooooooo tempted.

    • So we all used 10kg each going there and 20kg back.

      huh?

      • +4

        Travel to vietnam - 4 people, 40kg shared = 10Kg pp

        Vietnam to Mel - 4 people, 80kg shared = 20Kg pp.

A bit confusing but wanted to share what i did!

  • How do i get Adelaide?

    • +14

I think the city belongs to the South Australian government. You can't just get it.

      • Don't you get the keys if you do something awesome?

    • +2

      Nice try China government!

    • +1

Adelaide's an enigma KB; it defies comprehension.

    • +1

      I’ve never understood Adelaide either.

  • Heard they have a bad reputation, that apparently they cancel discounted trips without notice

  • +3

i dont see anything near that price

  • I just had a look and on the first search I found a trip for 166$ but then I click on it and the price change for 337$. It has extra taxes on top of the price…

  • I dont see any Melbourne to SGN that price on any date :-( Am i missing something?

  • Is it only the flights that they show when you filter by city?
When you search flights you cant find that price

  • Is there any way to pay without being slugged $50 payment fee via credit card, crazy

    • Do they take Dong instead?

    • it says PayID

      • It does but no where does it allow you to pay via PayID

          • @xxz: must be website only

            • +1

@evgpek: That's so weird, I tried on both website and app, only ever had credit card.

huh turned out it was chrome that was causing it, odd

              • @Pacify: it might depend on the link, the link in post seems to be working
p.s. signin&search does not work with VPN on either - how bizarre :)

  • That's so damm cheappp, I keep seeing how cheap Vietnam is compared to other parts of Asia now

  • These posts are getting sloppy. Twice now in the last day virtually duplicated existing deals.

    Slight tweaks… bump.

  • +1

I'm seeing MEL-SGN at $337.75 AUD (including taxes) as the lowest fare for all dates Feb-March next year

    • If you select "find cheapest" and get a monthly view, the cheap flights are listed as $0. Then they add the taxes and arbitrary "fees".

      • Sorry, how do I see monthly view? I've ticked find cheapest and just have date changes back and forth up the top

        • +1

Scratch that, I found it but the lowest fares from Melbourne are now showing as $166. When you add taxes that's what gets it back to the $337. Wondering if anyone else can confirm this

          • +1

@loxofdeals: Same is showing here, even when going from their promo page where it says "166".

  • +1

Handy, when u have a fight with your wife n want to go out for a smoke.

  • -3

OP, thank you for not putting Sxigxn. Long live Uncle Ho!!
PS Way easier to book with their mobile app.

  • Adelaide airport is not currently listed on their website flying options, if you try too book. The destination doesn't exist.

    • +1

      Adelaide dosen't exist confirmed

  • How long does it take from Sydney to Vietnam?

    • It’s 8 or 9hrs to south east Asia and usually an hour less to come back; when flying direct.

  • Is this a cheaper away of getting to perth than domestic flights?

    • "Is this a cheaper away of getting to perth than domestic flights?"

Would they let you off the plane? Exit could be dramatic.

  • "One Way Flights" - Vietnam is so great you'll never want to leave. The country is much more affordable than ubiquitous price gouging Australia.

    • Vietnam, Thailand, Bali are like paradise if you have decent money to spend the rest of your life there. More vibrant, more excited. It's not good when you are hard labour and want to earn honest money there.

  • Returned from SGN with Vietjet last week (Tuesday) and it was surprisingly smooth and comfortable for a 15 year old plane (VJ-A810). Sydney gets the newer 5yo plane but I was actually impressed. $345 during school holidays in Melb.

  • I tried multiple Oz cities and multiple dates and it keeps showing no flights available. I'd like SYD to SGN.
    Anybody seeing any dates available?

  • Does this airline have business class? Anyone tried it?

    • They have 'skyboss business' which looks decent. Just search on youtube. There aren't many seats and it's about 1.6k one way I think. It is a curtained off section.

  • -1

Unfortunately it turns out this deal was fraudulent. On the $0 tickets (only pay taxes) which came to $190 for Adelaide, when you try to book it says session exired please try again, each and every time you try to go past the first page of entering your personal details. I suspect a dirty marketing strategy combined with an attempt to store personal data for further future marketing.

    • I was able to book Adelaide to HCM. $370 return including all fees ($28 CC fee…)

      • What dates was this 👀

  • -1

lucky aussies. I flew all through vietnam with vietjet air, never any issues. super cheap flights. warning though: the flight attendants are all very attractive so can be a distraction

  • +1

Searching for Brisbane to HoChiMinh - on any date gives me no results for any price, I cant find a single one? Anyone else having this issue?

  • Is this the airline that plays the ‘flying for love’ song on repeat?

    • "Is this the airline that plays the ‘flying for love’ song on repeat?"

Yes, you can watch a YT video in English of "Flying for Love".
