Is It Legal/Ethical for Companies to Google Their Customers?

Just a random thought.

Say we complain to a company about their product or service. Would it be OK for the consultant to research us, find us on Facebook, linkedin, etc. Why? For example, the information is used to help them formulate plan to reply.

Would we be able to prove it?

  • So what dirt did they find on you?

Yes it's legal. Yes it's ethical, they may want some more information on your temperament or behaviours to find a better way to deal with you or if you're more trouble than its worth and to just refund and cut you loose.

  • they could also be finding any other negative comments you have made they can ask you to remove them in exchange for something in an NDA

  • A better question if is you complain online about a company can they reply using your real name (or publish your address….etc)
