How Is My Smart 5G Plan?

Can’t use starlink, address not available for 5g internet on all providers websites. Telstra 5g shows up on phone. Vodafone, Optus not.

My plan is netgear nighthawk m6 pro or inseego mifi x pro
+ belong $70 400g data plan * 2

1 in the modem, another on phone, switch once use up. 800g will be sufficient.

Have another phone on 365 days expiry sim only to make/receive calls.

Not considering Nokia fastmile or sagemcom unless I can buy from a reliable vendor.

None of ISPs sell stationary 5g modem outright?

  • unfourtunately if your address not available with 5G home internet, you cannot really do much to access 5G via mobile plans.

You could try using Boost prepaid cashback sims tho, churn through multiples of them

as far as modem goes, Nokia fastmile is not a bad choice honestly, it is around $400 on amazon - https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0CDBSZ6J3. You can probably find it cheaper in gumtree/marketplace etc.

    • thanks.
nokia fastmiles is $238.5 on catch https://www.catch.com.au/product/nokia-fastmile-5g-home-gate…

even $199 on ebay 'brand new' it says. however it's been out for a while i'm not that keen.

and i will need to go overseas in a few days so i will miss it. that's fine. see what black friday would offer.

guess i will first buy belong $70 400g and put it on phone and see how it goes.

i switched to prepaid boost as well telstra 5g on my iphone and it is significantly faster than the 4g i used to have. that's the mainly reason i decide to upgrade. i actually not worry too much about m6 pro and cost as i work from home so can claim most if not all the bills, modem cost back.

You need a new shift key as well.

        • Are they on sale on catch too?

      • it's no longer $238.5 on catch….

    Can’t use starlink

Why not? Why is it not an option?

    • Elon has blocked them.

$140 per month seems expensive for a 250 Mbps speed cap.

    • Are you referring to Starlink?

      • belong $70 400g data plan * 2

        • Its about $140 a month for Starlink as well. "Unlimited" Data for around 200 ish down and 20 up.

    • guess that's the best i can do. just tested, my 4g speed is 22 mbps, 5g is 171 mbps. oh telstra has un capped service at $90. anyway since i will not be on contract, might try it out. if they can offer 500g instead of 400g i might be able to live on that.

  • NBN plans will have larger data allowances if data is the main concern. Plus you won't always get those high speeds on 5G due to the network being congested particularly at night.
Depending on the technology type for your NBN you might also be able to get higher speeds as well. Up to 1GBPS with Fibre.
