Got Oculus Quest 3 and now I want Wifi 6E for Air Link. This might do it, I hope! Downsides - no 2.5 Gbps Ethernet port. I don't need full router, I have OPNsense box.
Normally over $300 before.

  • What's this difference between an extender like this and a WiFi mesh system?

    • It either acts as your primary wifi access point or can be part of a mesh, or a repeater.

Primary: it's got bulk signal and claims it'll do better at distance than your old device.

Repeater : where your phone can't see your existing device, this claims it will, thanks to being more sensitive / its big antennas. It can then rebroadcast that connection on a new wifi name/network. Your phone loses connection to the original as you switch between the existing, say, while walking upstairs, and connect to the "repeater" one. You have to manually log every device into this new network at some stage.

Mesh : same as above but it communicates with your original and "hands off" your connection. You never disconnect as you move between points, and your phone only ever sees the one network. You login once. Its all automatic. This relies on your original wifi point being "this type of mesh" compatible. Which are almost all brand specific, I believe. Hence the 3 packs etc.

  • Quest 3 now shows 2Gbps receive and 1.2Gbps transmit speeds. I guess I'll do it for Air Link. On 6GHz band 160MHz channel.

    • I'm unable set bit rate more than 200mbp when connected with the air link.

My wifi speed is shown 1.08 Gbps in quest 3.

      • Yeah, im still learning this. Try playing with Oculus Debug Tool, its in Program Files / Oculus

        • The Oculus Air link didn't work for me so I bought a virtual desktop app. It's better and more stable than the Oculus Air Link.
