Question Answer
1. Is Boost operated by Telstra network? Yes, on the full Telstra network
2. Does Boost support 5G? From 4 April 2023, 5G network access will be included as standard on your service and we’ll be introducing capped download speed caps on our 4G and 5G networks
3. Does Boost support e-SIM? Sadly not at this stage. However there are plans to do so
4. Do you have to activate the SIM within 30 days? Every Cashrewards Boost cashback up to and including July 31 has been approved (confirmed by TA) - provided you activated within 30 days of order
5. How long is the SIM expiry? Usually 1 year, but to qualify for cashback the SIM must be activated within 30 days of ordering
6. It is showing “new customer” on Boost website. What does this mean? New customer term is only for the additional Boost data, and nothing to do with the cashback offer
7. Can I receive international text message (aka int. roaming) with this SIM by default? Yes, you can receive SMS while overseas, but can’t send outgoing to Australia
8. How long does it take to receive the SIM? According to the Boost Rep: Once dispatched, you should receive your order within the following business days: Metro Areas – 2-5 business days for capital cities – Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Canberra, Darwin, Hobart & Brisbane (order before 4pm). Non Metro or Regional / remote areas – 3-7 business days
9. Is porting in a Telstra number to Boost considered a "new customer"? From Boost Mobile rep via dm: Porting a number from Telstra to Boost is definitely considered a new customer
10. Are you able to purchase multiple plans using different names / ID (or can I purchase 4 x plans for the family using my own details)? From Boost Mobile rep via dm: Received clarification from the team and this is a tricky one since for compliance the terms is showing the customer is only allowed 1 sim per transaction but he can buy multiple SIMs and then activate them all under his name and he will then be able to manage all the numbers when he logs into the App with his Boost ID.
11. Information on what to do when the "please try again later" " or "SORRY, SOMETHING WENT WRONG" message comes up List of indicators that can affect how your order is flagged in different financial systems, which can hopefully help you understand what is going wrong. Possible fraud scenario: API returns during purchase - credit to @himalpatel. Live chat advised that if you faced the above fraud scenario message, you need to use your friends details (aka a completely different details) to order
12. Can this be used to recharge? No, this is a starter pack. Using as a "recharge" is being dis-allowed and activating first and moving the number may be allowed but is frowned upon and may not be allowed in future depending on how you ask for it.

Enjoy!

The $4/$5 days are glorious days indeed

Do we need to activate within 30 days to eligible for the cash back?

    Finally, Knew it was coming.

I predict after this deal expires there will be another one sometime in the future & a member will comment that something went wrong.

    Anyone having problems buying/activating?

    • Read bad stories from previous posts that activation fails for people buying more than one SIMS.

      • You do activations through live chat. Maximum 3/day. I bought 34 when it was $5.05 recently and have done many in the past

        • I do my activations via the website, you have to do it via live chat, or you do it via live chat if the website fails?

          • @johnkash: The website blocked me permanently after 3 sims from memory. Just use live chat and activate 3 per day in the one chat session.

            • @MakeBread: Ahh ok

            • @MakeBread: Why limited 3/day? I did 11 at once last month and it went thru.

              • @noelhoi: Hmm I must try then. I was told by a customer service member regarding the limit.

                • @MakeBread: They just asked you politely “may I know the reason you are activating multiples at once?”
“Multiple overseas visitors visiting…” etc, use your creative argumentative skills 👍

I only bought one. I'm not sure I want to have dozens of unused phone numbers attached to my name for the sake of a $4 profit.

    • How are you going to spend your windfall?

      • +5

Buying the fancy noodles instead of the regular kind

  • Will tomorrow be $5+ profit?

    • -2

      $5+ is for Rep only.

  • Still my purchases for $17.05 cashback are not tracked :| :|

Why is it so hard to troubleshoot being unable to buy one? Why is no one on this?

Are they purposefully trying to stop people who have bought many before?

Even if I try with a different computer. Different IP address. Different person's name, dob, phone number (real person). Different delivery address. Different credit card details…

None of the details have been used to buy a Boost sim before. "Something went wrong, etc etc etc"

    • You're absolutely correct; I've had a same/similar experience. I'm not an IT expert, so I can't provide concrete evidence, but it seems like they might be using the promise of $profit as a tactic to generate web traffic without genuinely intending to sell SIM cards. It does raise suspicions of potentially dishonorable practices.

It's just frustrating. The deals would still be a hit if you limited it to x sims per CR account or whatever other restriction. At least we'd know instead of punching in all these details and getting some shitty unhelpful error message.

        • I purchased Boost SIMs via Shopback two weeks ago (3 x $5 profit). I didn't encounter any error messages or problems with that transaction.

If this issue is related to Cashrewards, I kindly request that Cashrewards address and resolve it as soon as possible. Otherwise, it's possible that customers may choose to switch to Shopback for their future purchases.

          • +1

@Orican: Nothing to do with Cashrewards. If it were, then no one else could buy.

        • I'm getting the same error message, and I have never purchased a Boost sim in the past. I did click through via Cashrewards though. I wonder if it is related to that, i.e. Boost does not want to give cashback that is higher priced than your purchase

          • @dinob7: It's not simply that. There are plenty of people buying successfully at profit.

    • If enough people raise it as an issue with Boost maybe they'll fix their error. Message them here:

    error
    SORRY, SOMETHING WENT WRONG

We’re sorry but we’re experiencing technical issues. Please try again later

    • I keep getting this issue too

    • Same error for me. First time buying Boost and it is pretty frustrating.

In their live chat, they recommended I go to a store instead (wtf, I am trying to buy online so I don't need to go to a store, and get cashback too), buy a $2 sim (wtf, that's extra $), then go back to live chat and they will help me recharge $35 (wtf, that's the full price), then they will refund the $23 difference (wtf, i have to wait for a refund, and who knows if it will arrive).

Not a good look for Boost for a first-time buyer like me

  • I ordered on Sunday, money taken but no email from boost, only cashreward. They said they cannot resolve the issue without the order number (but no email was sent). Can anyone assist? The chat is most unhelpful on their website

    • +1

Probably not much help now but the order number is usually shown on the confirmation page after you have paid. It's always important to note it down or wait until the email comes through before closing the page

  • My 365 day plan is going to expire soon.

    Can I use the '$16 cashback on Boost’s $12 28-day SIM'

And then use the 365 days prepaid sim?

Or is this for new customers only who port in?

I would prefer not to bother with the 28-day SIM but I know Boost doesn't allow you to 'recharge' using the 365 days prepaid sim when your existing 365 'plan' expires.

    • No. You must move to Optus/Vodafone first. Then you can use the '$16 cashback on Boost’s $12 28-day SIM'. But you have to hurry as it all needs to be done within 28 days.

      • OK Thanks.

I won't bother. I'll just pick up an Optus SIM then go back to Boost 365day plan

  • After reading through comment section,

    looks like same IT guy

I suggest report "unobtainable" for who get an error so mod can count how many got block

  • Still can’t buy any, still getting the something is wrong error message. it’s been almost a month. I don’t expect it to change. I’m hoping it’s an error and it gets fixed, but I believe it is fraud detection.

I use these for useful purposes, I port my main number to Boost as many times as I can, I Wi-Fi quite a few devices around the house to the Sims in my spare phones it greatly reduces the strain on my home Internet specially when everyone’s using the net at the same time and all the new number deals and offers. I’ve been doing this for quite awhile and these benefits far outweigh any profit you make from these offers.

I don’t blame people for hammering these deals to death for the profit. But I cringe when people post on here they’ve purchased 15 20, 25,30 and more at a time whether it’s true or not. I wish they wouldn’t do that. They are part of the blame. Cash rewards is also to blame for not putting a limit on the amount you can buy in a period and also Boost for allowing I think 30 number slots on your BoostID.

And the new number only last 7 months from the day it is activated , unless you recharge it.

Unless someone else knows another way, this is the only way to get free phone numbers and free Sims.

Good times seem to be ending.

  • glad the next cashback is higher..all the best everyone
