GHA platinum is similar to, say, Marriott gold, in which you get room upgrade where available, late checkout subject to availability, welcome amenities, etc.
Not for everyone but if you have stays coming up, probably a good investment for a slightly better overall experience.
True but something like Marriott Platinum is MUCH harder to get than Gold for most people who don't do a whole lot of travel for work.
For myself, late check out is probably the benefit I have taken most advantage of. It makes a world of difference between 11am checkout and 4pm checkout especially if you have a late night flight to catch.

You will have to book direct. Only certain third party agents are valid for benefits and the common ones Expedia, trip, Agoda etc don't fall under that
I'm aware of benefit not applying when booking via 3P, but would booking directly with the hotel also considered as 3P?

Purely from experience and from what I've read, you'll get the benefits by booking directly with the property. This is definitely the case for NH/NH Collection but can't say for sure for the other brands.
Tks. I've a reservation with Anantara which from memory I think I booked directly. I can see the booking in my GHA profile - but it says booked outside GHA discovery.
Might check with the hotel directly before pressing the trigger on this deal.
Does the GHA platinum expire ? I.e does it last for a year like the accor plus membership?

@maverick1: You should get the invite from [email protected]. Double-check your spam folder, if it's not there, you can send an email to [email protected] and tell them that you haven't received your Platinum invite for GHA by following OP's steps.
I find GHA Titanium one of the best “elite” loyalty status, not only it’s one of the easier ones to obtain, the benefits of late 5pm checkout and early 11am check in is massive value, and more importantly the double upgrade which many other programs don’t have it. While travelling in Asia with gha luxury hotels I was always upgraded double and in one case triple, value was more than $5000+ in upgrades really worth it! You r also treated with so many complimentary items as titanium, My fav hotel loyalty program
