  • Cool. Been waiting for this. Thanks.

Most incredible games. SotC still astounds me with how beautiful it is.

I found these games had dated really badly tbh. Other games like GoW1/2 have stood the test of time much better IMO.

      Ico and SotC - 2001 and 2005.
      GOW 1 and GOW 2 - 2005 and 2007.

All are amazing games and I would probably put them all in my top 10 PS2 games. However, you can't really compare them in terms of how well they have "stood the test of time" when the former have stood far longer. GOW 2 especially is only barely a last gen game.

In saying that, I completely disagree that Ico and SotC have dated poorly. The Ico games used more processing power on amazing fluid animation and a large open world while the GOW games used the majority of their processing power on hugely detailed visuals in a more limited area.

Good point about release times. I guess the hack n slash genre hasn't moved on as far as other genres have. I picked up ICO and after an hour I wondered why I was bothering. The pace was too slow for me to enjoy.
I never tried SotC, I gave it to somebody else who was itching to play it.

        • Haha yeah I can understand that Ico is not everyone's cup of tea. I feel that SotC has more so-called "intrinsic excellence" - if there is such a thing. I can't guarantee you'll love it, especially if it feels dated to you, but I honestly think your doing yourself a disservice by not giving it a go.

          Btw, I didn't neg you :)

        • I knew you never, its the bottom feeders who neg people for having their own opinion johnno. I might get it back later and try it on my Vita.

Also, these are HD remakes of the original PS2 version.

        • Yes, as are GoW1/2. I'm speaking of God Of War, not Gears Of War BTW.

    • the way ico and wander control can sometimes be really frustrating (although i'm guessing that's the point)

SoTC hasnt stood the test of time? Played it recently? It's a masterpiece.

      • Bothered to read the posts?

        • I replied to the original poster of the comment. Thats why the indent is less than the comment above me. Welcome to the internet, I will be your guide.

        • I am the original poster on that comment. Blind men don't make good guides.

        • "I found these games had dated really badly tbh"

          "I never tried SotC"

sorry, my idiocy filter must have malfunctioned with such a massive overload.

        • Yes I could understand you getting a lot of static feedback.

  • Yeah awesome games, picked this one up at the 50% off games sale at HN sometime back.

    • How much was it during the 50% off HN sale?

      • Had to check my receipt for that one! Looks like I paid $28.94.

  • It's $29.99 on the Aus PSN store……

a physical copy is always better. especially for people who like having a huge game collection :)

  • Out of stock.

    • PSN still has some.

  • I have no idea why it's marked as 'Out of Stock' when clearly the page shows it's in stock :/

I personally hated SoTC. Played it for about 2hrs on PS2 and thought it was crap.

Too much horse riding… I reccomend this game to anyone who wants to waste their time looking at scenery rather than indulging in a storyline.

    • +1

Haha and your recommendation would be worth exactly squat if that's how you present this game to people. Especially if you tell them it's crap - when it's patently not crap. It is definitely slower paced than the average game and has a bit of riding but you do seem to be forgetting that it includes 16 of the grandest boss battles to ever grace a videogame. If you don't get sidetracked exploring it really doesn't take that long to ride from one place to the next. Maybe you would have liked the game more if instead of a horse you were driving a Black V8 SS?
