Which Electric Oven?

I need to replace a faulty 20 year old 60cm electric oven. But I just want an oven, without all the fancy features like Pyrolytic, Steam, In-built Air Fryers/Microwaves etc.
Essentially, I just want an oven that works like an oven & will be reliable and last a long time.
Most of our cooking is done on an outdoor BBQ, but I'd like to be able to do baking, roasts or bread in the oven.

I've seen a few 60cm ovens from Westinghouse or Whirlpool that seem to be ok, but keen to hear what others have to say.

Re: Pyrolitic, I would consider it. Might save you a lot of cleaning effort, if you're doing roasts…

  • I’ve stopped buying Westinghouse. Their reliability is amazing. Every Westinghouse appliance I have had lasts about 5 years. And I prefer my appliances to last longer than that.
If you’re not in a hurry Look for an Asko, Siemens basic on clearance.

  • Bosch.

Ikea do basic ovens. Their buyers spec the oven to a slightly higher build quality, at least from what I've read online. You may have to buy an extra rack or two.

  • Had Fisher and Paykel fairly basic oven and did alright for 15+ years.

Just bought a Siemens IQ700. I also would recommend the spend for pyrolytic.

However, if dropping $2.5k make you 😫, the old Siemens ovens should be heavily discounted as they are on a model change over/end of life cycle atm.

Facebook marketplace or gumtree for a near new 2nd hand .

Thats what i did when updating the kitchen in my old house prior to selling it.

Got a near new oven for ~$180.

  • Bosch series 8

  • We just did ours. Bosch has a different cut out to the Westinghouse. I wanted to go Westinghouse to match our fridge, but it wouldn't fit with our dimensions. We ended up with a Bosch. I paid $740ish.

    • What are your thoughts of the Bosch Series 4 Oven after using it for a couple of months? I'm thinking of possibly getting this one.

      • Great oven, and does everything we need. We went with black. No complaints at all. We have a Bosch washing machine and dryer too. Excellent gear.
