I seriously do not understand why Telstra limits a 5G SIM to 150mbps.

That's basically the only advantage of 5G over any other signal technology.

The Telstra 4GX network can supposedly go up to 300mbps so what the hell is the point of even allowing 5G on it.

    • Dataflow over 5G is quicker, and hence costs less than the same dataflow over 4G. Once you've already paid for the 5G equipment/installation, they save money by moving as many folks over to 5G as possible. I'm sure they can selectively push load from 5G to 4G if they need to, as well.

    • why Telstra limits a 5G SIM to 150mbps.

      Agree… It's not even a prime number…

    • It's a prepaid limit, to make you go to their awful postpaid plans

How's the connection speed for this? Boost claims 5g, but on the train it couldn't load :D

    • +1

Boost and Telstra have identical data throughput and signal. Telstra does not give priority to it’s customers over Boost’s customers. So if you dislike Boost, Telstra is going to be the exact same.

Where’s my crystal ball for Black Friday promos lol

  • Can you get an eSIM in addition to run a smartwatch etc….. The description says “switch to an eSIM”…

  • Will it work if I tranfer from Boost?

    • Yes, but you may need to contact Telstra to activate for you manually.

  • Will it provide me with details for the eSim as soon as I order or will I need to wait till it is physically delivered?

    • You need to activate the physical SIM first, then convert to eSIM in the My Telstra app or online.

  • Finally pulled the pin, thanks OP. been considering jumping from traditional post paid to prepaid for ages… why pay $60 a month for data I don’t use?! Sweet deal.

  • I am currently with Telstra, do I need to port out to a different carrier for 30 days or I can port out and port back in straight away?

  • Will OW price match this?
