I highly recommend looking at pictures of the sole of these before buying. I'm the owner of 3 pairs of Florsheim shoes (2x Kabul, 1x Flicker) from pre-covid.

I would highly, highly recommend avoiding their derbies with a patch of grip near the toes and a patch near the heel. They wear out very quickly and it becomes slippery on most pavement when wet.

Steer clear of those with the bottom like their Flicker - it is literally like walking on ice without any grip.

The issue is that the treads(?) on the bottom are very shallow and wears through quickly ideally you'd want something with thicker treads.

Can't these issues be resolved by getting proper soles at a cobbler?

When I bought my last Floreshiem boots, the sales told me to wear it a couple weeks and then go to a cobbler to get proper soles

Spend a bit more and get a pair from a proper bootmaker, even at 40%-off these shoes aren't worth it (cheaply made, glued together so likely not repairable).

    • Any suggestions??

      • I see comments like this online all the time, then they turn around and recommend Loakes or another (up around $500).

I personally think these are acceptable for the price.

If however you're looking for a pair of shoes to wear daily I would then suggest spending more, but for formal/dress shoes you might whip out monthly at most these will do fine.

Edit: for those who are looking I'd suggest checking out Allen Edmond, word is they aren't the best but currently running heavy discounts for Black Friday sales I believe it would be, only pain is coping the shipping to Aus!
