New Guidelines for eBay deals: Top rated sellers, No overseas reps and more.

Our current guidelines on eBay deals:

  • Company selling item must have an ABN, thus be Australian.
  • Must be BIN (Buy it Now). In other words, no auctions.
  • Must have a quantity of 10 available.

We want to open up OzBargain to more eBay deals but we also don't want to attract spam or dodgy deals. So we are trialing out new guidelines which hopefully opens up this site to good deals but also shuts out spammers and scammers.

New guidelines:

  • Overseas users will not be able to post eBay deals.
  • Non-reps / regular users are able to post deals only if the seller is a Top Rated Seller.
  • Reps from Australia can post deals as long as they have either an ABN or are a Top rated seller.
  • Must be BIN (Buy it Now). In other words, no auctions.
  • Must have a quantity of 10 available.

Most overseas users are representatives of companies. By banning all overseas users, this prevents undeclared reps (and 1 post wonders) from posting eBay deals.

A Top rated seller meets the following eBay standards:

  • Must consistently earn top ratings from eBay buyers for delivering excellent service, posting items quickly for a reasonable price, and providing accurate item descriptions.
  • Must sell $3,000 or more and complete a minimum of 100 selling transactions on eBay every year.
  • Are regularly reviewed by eBay for compliance with these standards.

This should add some protection to buyers as well as making sure sellers are actually established businesses.

BIN and quantity remain the same.

As usual, feedback is welcomed.
