Velodyne Deep Blue 12" Subwoofer $1149 (RRP $2299) Delivered @ Custom Home Theatre Solutions

140

350W RMS, 850W peak.

This is the real thing. I bought a Yamaha NS-SW300 back in April, although that was good, it couldn't keep up with the real rumbling scene of some movies, particularly submarine scenes or ocean wave scene. Yamaha just rattles. I ended up upgrading to Velodyne DP subwoofers and all I can say is they are of different level. Now my whole room shakes. It's worth every penny.

Velodyne digital drive ones are really good, from back in the day to now

  • You could've gotten REL Predator to bring your house down, this is merely 350w RMS

This or a SVS PB-1000 pro?

I'm an amateur so may be wrong but this is a sealed sub and pb is ported. I assume an SB model would be a better comparison?
I can't answer which is better so let's see if any audiophiles can chime in!

    • Depends if it's for HT or Music too.
I'd go this over the SVS for music, either for HT.

Or do what I did, and get a REL 1205! :) It's fantastic for both!

    • Check the frequency graphs for both. You need to check which performs better around 20-30hz.

I had a sb1000 pro and it was not powerful enough for that low bass frequencies. Upgrades to pb2000 pro and it really THUDS

To throw another option for a new kid on the block the Tonewinner D-4000 12".

    800W/3000W, 38kgs vs 14 for the Velodyne.

Seems to have favourable opinions from the few reviews but is a few hundred over this deal.

    • Oh no. I have been waiting patiently for the deals to start and was all but decided on the pb1000 pro… Now this. How do you think they compare?

      • Can't tell you which is better unless you audition side by side.

All I can say is that DP12 rrp is $2299 and is sold in most places at that price, vs PB1000 pro rrp of $1799, and selling $1199 at almost every retailer now. Hence DP12 made it to OzB. What makes the $500 more with Velodyne I have no clue. But I'm sure you cant go wrong with either.
