Not really - I recently bought 4 small business books and did a comparison with about 5 local online bookstores from Oz before I purchased. Amazon came up to around $80 AUD including shipping, while the rest were over $120*** AUD - even with the lousy exchange rate.

Plus, one of the hardcover books was defective (pages not trimmed properly) - so I lodged a replacement request online, and about an hour later, they emailed me back saying that they'll post a replacement book out to me using express shipping. And because they said that shipping back to them would be prohibitively expensive, I didn't have to post it back to them. Lo and behold, about 3 or 4 days later, the replacement book turned up. So now, I've got 2 copies of the book (albeit, one damaged one) so I gave to my brother.

A very happy Amazon customer here! :D

*** I should add though that one of the Oz bookstores (can't remember which one - I found via google) said that they would match whatever price Amazon came up with. I couldn't be bothered though so I just went with Amazon (I'm glad I did though) :D

      • That would be Fishpond. However from some comments somewhere that Fishpond would only price match the cost of book + postage of individual books. So with combined shipping from Amazon it would still turn out cheaper.
