    12/12 30A isolated version about $30 more

  • I noticed this, it's the last bit of Victron gear I need, doing my best to resist,.. (currently using my old Projecta DC-DC on the Gel setting with the LiFePO4 BMS set to cut off charge when it's full, not ideal)

  • Hmmmm, this… or this 50A Renogy one for $256 which includes MPPT solar input (to charge both house and starting batts) as well…

I've created a deal for it as I think its better for people who aren't locked in to Victron.

I have the renogy 50a dcdc in my van. Can't fault it so far in the 12 months it's been in. Charges at high rate when it should and doesn't pump the battery up beyond its steady state charge unless I ask it to.

    • I'm a bit of a fan of Victron, the BT app is surprisingly good…

Also, I prefer to keep my MPPT & DC-DC as separate units, so if one fails I still have the other to keep me going… The idea of combined units for remote travel makes me nervous, when I had a combined unit I carried a backup solar charger to cover my arse…

Same, I keep it seperate for redundancy. I've also run Victron gear for years without fault. Also ties in nicely with their ecosystem of products such as the shunts.

I have the Smart-Shunt also, that with the Android app is all I use for battery monitoring…

It amazes me the Victron Bluetooth and app are so good, never an issue, quick and easy to connect… (unlike a lot of other BT apps which are often a bit flakey)

Yeah but if you are carrying 2 units anyway, may as well make them both combined. That way you have like 2 spares for each system.

Oh and that Renogy one can be had for $230 on eBay i've updated the deal.

True, it's all down to personal preference… A big part of my choices these days is quality, I've used cheaper stuff for years and it's never quite right, there's always little issues and annoyances…

I ended up with 2 Projecta combined DC-DC/MPPT units a few years ago, I never found their MPPT very good so I used a separate solar charger a lot of the time… I also carry the spare combined unit with anderson plugs on it which I use occasionally to recharge my motorbike battery, boat battery, and to recharge other peoples batteries, lol, it's surprisingly handy having a second unit on hand…

What do I need for a simple solar setup? I currently have a 100ah lithium battery, 50L fridge, lights for shipping container. Going to use about three house solar panels 200-250w each panel.

    • Most likely overkill on the three panels but you'll need something like a Victron MPPT. 12/30 or 12/50 should work well.

    Great prices. I grabbed a 100/20 for $108

Sheesh I paid $135 for a 75/15 just a month ago from the same seller 😂

    • I paid about the same around a year ago, I notice they're $71 now, lol … I heard a rumour the MPPT prices were going to drop…
