2010 Toyota Aurion

Hi, last time I posted a forum (Mazda vs Toyota I just saw this Aurion with 113,000 km at $12,000. Check out this 2010 Toyota Aurion Sportivo ZR6 Auto MY10.

What do you guys think? I know six cylinder isn't really good for fuel, but is it that bad?

    • We have the AWD version of the Aurion in Australia?

      • -1

No, Toyota Aurion is only available in front-wheel-drive (FWD) version in Australia. The AWD (all-wheel-drive) option is not offered for the Aurion model in the Australian market.

I apologize if the text is not formatted properly or not appearing bolded as expected. The formatting might not be transferred correctly in certain platforms or text editors. Please ensure that the proper markdown syntax is being used to format the text as bold. The markdown syntax for bolding text is typically using double asterisks (**text**) or double underscores (__text__) around the desired text.

          Hi Chat-JVT

          • @djkelly69: Hello! How can I assist you today?

            • @jv: So is it fair price?

              • @[Deactivated]: I'm sorry, but I need more context to answer that question. Could you please provide more details about what you are referring to?

              • @[Deactivated]: Leather and power seats, two zone AC, airbags, premium sound system. Sounds like a pretty cool car. Have the airbags and AC been serviced, does everything generally work? How's the paintwork and condition of the engine?

    • 200kw not horsepower

      ChatJVT seems like an upgrade/improvement.

  • if you're very concerned about fuel economy get the 2.0L Mazda 3 — hell get the yaris, but it wont be as 'nice' as the other options.
realistically though on the highway their fuel consumptions will be similar - bigger engine not working as hard vs smaller engine turning higher rpm. i recall my old mazda3 was turning nearly 3k rpm at 100 kph.

the mazdas are arguably a 'nicer' car than the aurion by virtue of being newer

this is a decent aurion example: has full service history, as 2gr-fe engine while reliable can be prone to oil sludging. price is similar to what it would be as a 10 year old car with 110k kms pre-covid.

Yep, yaris is horrible to drive.

2GR is arguably toyotas best mid range motor though, in the past ~15 years. I'm not sure if the sludge issue is really a thing, or if its cause by owners not really maintaining them.

What type of driving did you need it for?

Highway kms the Aurion is comfortable and will be ok on fuel use, once you start doing traffic though you will be using quite a bit more…

All rounder for both highway and traffic the 2014+ BM Mazda 3 is my pick (I owned one for 8 years).

    • Mostly highway.
I want 4cyl but they are so expensive ….

  • No.

    • No for what

      • no for $12,000.

  • I was looking at used car prices a little while back and was intrigued that Aurions seemed to be a surprisingly good bargain generally. It was like people knew Camrys were good, but didn't know what an Aurion was, so they weren't willing to pay as a good a price for it, even though it was just a Camry with a V6 in it.

    • So V6 is worse than 4cyl?
Heard that it's hard to repair than 4 cyl

Wait till you hear about the Lexus ISS350

      • they bit expensive so an is250 would make more sense in this case but carbon buildup and other issues make it kinda suck

  • Damn, that styling didn't age well.

Would be a v6 rocket ship though, was designed to go up against the commonwhores and falcons back in the day, then fuel went through the roof, and we all bought huge SUV's.

    • Damn, that styling didn't age well.

Didn't it? The colour is ugly and the spoiler is goofy, and maybe the clear lights are a bit chav, but there's a couple Camrys of that era on my street and I thought they aged quite well. When they switched to the sharp pointy spaceship style I thought that dated much faster.

Aurions are actually pretty good on fuel, especially on the highway. Servicing must be spot on though, they love to gunk up if oil changes get missed.

    Bought, thanks for link!

  • My Aurion drinks on average 12 litres per 100 kms but it is mainly used for short city trips.
With the current cost of fuel it's an expensive car to run.
I could drive more economically but the silky smooth, stock standard V6 accelerates from 0-100 in under 7 seconds, so I tend to enjoy its performance. 🙄
It has been a very reliable car with the exception of an exploding water pump which is expensive to replace based on its location.

6 cyl isn't bad on an automatic car if you drive it under 2k revs. I get 10l/100km from an is250 with is250 problems. I wouldn't buy it at $12k, talk them down a bit; would rather import an IS350 for that much.

    • Like this idea about importing the IS250, can you provide some pointers on how to go about doing this pls, cheers

      • You can't import a 250. It's not considered an enthusiasts vehicle due to the smaller engine. The 350 is better anyway, more power and has port injection as well as direct injection so you don't have carbon buildup issues.

  • Have the previous model Presara, its dong 13L/100, short trips mainly stuck in traffic, long range has achieved 6L/100
Really nice leather interior, you should be able to negotiate a lower price.

I have a 13 year old Aurion. It is regularly seviced and has never given me any trouble. Highway cruising it gives me 7 litres per hundred km.It is not excessively noisy when driven at highway speeds but growls aggressively when accelerated hard.
I regard it as the best highway cruiser I have ever owned.
