  • Thanks op. What do you use for alerts?

  • +2

damn, it's getting cheaper and cheaper, bought 2 at $33 each.

  • Thanks Champ! Got it for $19.73 with $5 promo.

    • +1

      $5 promo??

      • Had this promo in my account for last few days saying $5 off on $20+ orders.

        • +1

          Yeah same, OP!

  • +5

Sees this listing. Checks around house, because I'm sure I bought one of these a while ago "for when I get a dashcam". Finds it; it's 32gb. Buys this 256gb one.

Will probably do the same in a few years with a 1tb model … Having still not unwrapped either of these.

  • +1

Had a read of the viofo dash cam FAQ section, and they recommend sandisk max endurance, or sandisk extreme, so I’ll wait for that deal. But thanks anyways.

    • +2

I have been using an Samsung Evo+ 256GB for the last 5 years in a dashcam. Its still going.

Infact I'm tempted to swap in my Evo Select 256GB soon.

I think the endurance pro will be fine.

      • A Viofo cam?

        • Been running an A119 v2 for 5 years straight on the same card. Recording in a loop holding a month of footage.

    • +12

They also recommend Viofo branded MicroSD. Since Viofo is not known to make cutting edge MicroSD cards and most likely use rebadged OEMs, I would take their recommendations with a heap of salt.

      • -6

Or… Based on massive experience, they know what they’re talking about and sell own-branded and recommend others they can vouch for.

      • +1

        Their FAQ page says

We have also gone through numerous tests and collected multi-channel feedback, we only recommend VIOFO original cards, Sandisk MAX, or EXTREME endurance cards as per the below pic, most other cards are not recommended, like the Samsung EVO card.

The recommendation for their own branded Viofo MicroSD cards are clearly a self-plug. Why wouldn't you be able to trust their recommendations for those memory cards they listed as being tried and tested? I can't even say they're "promoting" a particular brand since they also have memory cards they don't recommend from Sandisk

      Had problem similar to this

      And
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/14251480/redir
Basically dashcam would record for about 30s and stop. Plugged into PC to check, all files are there but speed test max at ~10MB/s write.
Might just be a dud but can't get a replacement since it's Amazon US now just need a sale on sold by Amazon AU to give it another try.

  • Wanted something straight away for my new go pro so got 512GB Micro SDXC EVO Plus Memory Card for $69 from good guys commercial

    • You don't need an "Endurance" model for a go pro anyway. Dash ams continuously write, and normal cards aren't designed for that.

  • +9

add a kool-aid to get it to $24.55 for both https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B0010XVKIM/ref=sw_img_1…

  • +2

Hmmm. This one or the previous SanDisk deal?

    • +1

Considering the sandisk deal is expired I guess this one ?

      • Moreso wanting to know whether the previous deal is better or worse than this one (SD card quality vs price) and if I just pull the trigger on this.

        • +2

Samsung is meant to be 7x the endurance rating. 140,000 hours vs 20,000.

          • +1

@giovannip: Pulled the trigger :) Thanks heaps.

            • +2

@JiggyJiggy361: No worries. This is my 9th time buying them. I used them in all my security cameras at home to save motion detection.

  • +2
    • Can anyone shed any additional light on this? I just purchased two of these for a pair of Viofo A119's on the recent deal. Wanting to know if I should cancel it or not before it's too late!

      • +3

It will work fine and probably lasts ages; just not recommended by Viofo.

For reference, I've had the Samsung Evo Plus in both the parent's dash camera for years and they are still fine.

        • +2

Thanks mate, assuming it's just because they want you to buy their cards 👍

          • +1

@Borgasm: I mean not really because they still recommend Sandisk cards alongside their own one, just the Sandisk Max Endurance and Extreme ones.

      • I've been using a 128GB one of these in a A119v3 for about 3 years, no issues ;)

        • +2

This is the newer version. But people report that has problems in the 4K 2ch dashcam due to slower write speed.

    • I use samsung only, I read earlier sandisk are not reliable

  • Is this good for the c210 security cam?

  • Legend…was literally about to pull trigger last night

  • +1

Got 2 for $43.5. Great price. Thanks OP!!

  • Since it's supplied by overseas (US) Amazon, is return shipping free or paid if change of mind?

  • LOL…..bought it 20 days ago at $33, will Amazon US refund the price different?

    • Doesn't hurt to try. With enough persistence, you'll probably get it.

    • Doesn’t hurt to ask.

  • I bought this on Dec 22 and it has been dispatched already. What's the best way to get it for this price? Buy another one and return the one that just shipped? Or is there some way on Amazon to get a partial refund?

Edit: sorry, just saw the comment above mine. Same question.

    • Go via live chat and see if they can. You might have to jump through multiple agents to get it though. My best success recently was actually via phone call as I seem to get agents sending me the refund terms saying they don't do partial refunds (even though they should).

      • +1

Cheers! Will give Live Chat a go first, and phone if needed.

        • Well, Live Chat said that they can't do anything whilst the parcel is in transit, but she said that once it arrives they will be able to do the partial refund. I hope that turns out to be true … I have the transcript, so hopefully can use that to show that she said it will be done once it arrives.

  • Add the following item to your cart so you can qualify for the 12 percent discount so you get it for slightly cheaper - $24.55

  • Sorry not tech savy here can i use this in samsung phones ?

    • Without you being more specific on the phone you have, probably yes. Check if it accepts Micro SD cards.

      • yup there is a slot for it! thanks

    • I think Endurance models have slower write and read speeds. But they have longer lifespan in terms of write cycles so its more suited for cctv and dashcams

      • what's a better one for a phone? any recommendations?

  • Great deal, paid $34 a month ago

  • damn, bought it for $33 not long ago

  • Thanks! Ordered 2.

  • Just got two got dash cams for Xmas perfect Thanks OP!!!

  • My camera uses SD size cards. Can I place this in SD to MicroSD adaptor and use in my camera?

    • +1

      Yes

    • Yeah, probably the same as mine and my tablet lol

  • Sold out? :/

    • :'(

  • Can these be used for drones?

  • +1

damnit, I literally bought the 128gb for $2 less just yesterday afternoon for a new dash cam I ordered. RIP

    • I think I did the same - Viofo A119 dashcam and a 128gb SanDisk high endurance card ($22)

  • +1

Purchased one from Black Friday deal a month ago, tracking status "Your package may be lost" :(

    • Is your stuff stuck in Kemps Creek? I have a really big package stuck there.
