These predictive posts have kinda turned into a disaster for me. I don't check epic every day (as I'm not even on my computer at this time of year) and I ended up missing some of the interesting games I wanted. Definitely hasn't happened in previous years.

If we're taking votes for next year, would be much easier to just have a game posted when it's confirmed/available.

Edit: I do very much appreciate the time and effort everyone puts in that posts deals.

    • +20

You can just access the epic store on your phone you don't need a pc

    • +3

Yep I missed out on the best one this year (outer worlds), while I've been able to pick up all the duds lol, same thing as last year with missing out on death stranding lol!

      • +2

Didn't have access to your phone internet all day? That's all I do to grab them

    • +1

I usually set daily google calendar (repeat daily) for this time of the year as reminder to login into epic store

  • +11

I just access the epic online store via iOS Safari browser on my phone to redeem the free games I like. Granted can’t view my game library this way (still need to logon through my PC or PC handhelds) but it’s an easy way to grab the free offers on the go.

    • +5

You can view your game library on website on your phone (not the most intuitive way)

https://www.epicgames.com/store/en-US/ and under your "Name" it should say "Account" and then on the right tab of that screen "Transactions". This told me everything I got from them

      Quicker more direct link

      • +2

Thats useful, but not ‘My Library/my games’ as other stores where it lists your games better visually, and you can search your library

If you prefer to see transactions, then an email search also serves the purpose

Too bad, non of the stores allow you to expert your game list to a text file

        • +4

non of the stores allow you to expert your game list to a text file

Use Playnite and you'll get be able to do this. I've got Steam, GOG, Epic, etc. Even my PS5 games all there so I can see what games I've got and what I want to play

          • @DiscountForThee: Wow that looks really good. Thanks so much

I’m gonna give it a try. Even gog galaaxy stopped linking to steam, ubisoft and origin

  • +7

    Reminders. Easy as.

    • Yep reminder for this morning was perf

  • +6

I have a different guess, but for a better game. Actually a few different games. Can I post three deals for this?

    • +7

He never predicted the yesterday deal nor said it was confirmed
Scrooge took his X’s tweet and read it the wrong way. The prediction came from another user and not from Billbil

      • +19

How about we avoid that by putting up deals when they are real?

        • +4

The list that I linked to that dealabs forum has been accurate

Billbil might call it predictions but they could be actual deals

How are you able to explain when dealbot posts the weekly deals when Epic has never released them officially?

Edit: I completely forgot to answer your original question

Don't know if you get paid to put these posts up or need the dopamine hit of upvotes to satiate you

No I don’t get commission or represent any stores. All of my deals posted so far have been time spent on researching the cheapest price available and what my OzBargain’s username is for

    • Right today.

  • +11

I appreciate these prediction posts OP. What if I was just about to buy this game but I saw this post and it caused me to hold off until tomorrow? Worse case the prediction is wrong and I just go ahead and but it tomorrow no big loss. Best case I saved my money from being needlessly spent so I can use it to pick up other bargains. I don't really see the downside to these prediction posts in fact I appreciate the fair warning.

    • +12

Thanks mate, I appreciate the positivity

I just don’t understand why the hatred when another OP posts them and when dealbot posts them it says otherwise

I only use reliable sources for these deals and the last 3 of the deals I posted as predictions came out true due to my researching (eg this was true based on the reddit user and another one was true from the same reddit user but Billbil confirmed it thru his X’s tweet). Same goes with this one as it was predicted via his dealabs’ forum

    • Honestly I just don't buy any games until this giveaway period is done. Even if you did buy it, some stores will allow a timeframe for you to return it if it became available as a freebie.

  • +3

Lots of negative votes not really in line with their purpose. Use the report feature if you have a problem with the post or OP, not the retailer or product.

Not that anybody asked but Ive posted these deals in years gone by (wasnt bothered doing the ground work or staying up late this year) and there use to be a block on being able to post these deals 3hours before the game dropped. Not sure what happened there.

I'm definitely team predictive posts if they're accurate. Let's me know early not to bother if it's not a decent AAA game, backlog is way too big for games like Cat Quest, lol.

    • +1

It saddens me to see that people are casually using the negative voting to either say it’s sold out or expired too. OzBargain feels like it’s going downhill because of these people not using the voting buttons properly

No one actually checks the voting guidelines page, so maybe if the mods can raise a way to advise users on that such page exists?

Edit: I have raised this issue via a TWAM and I will take this discussion on a PM rather than clogging unnecessary commentaries

    • I'm with you on this… there's way too much negging. I also have no issue with accurate predictions but I have to say that yesterday's split prediction was a tad confusing but I got a real kick out of a Reddit poster suggesting that today's release was going Debian Linux because it featured the spiral symbol. That cracked me up.

      • +2

I was very certain on the Epic Games freebie yesterday via my backed sources on images and links

There shouldn’t be a second deal posted as the prediction from Scrooge contained no backed credit sources and how the original predictor concluded their prediction. That sole deal posted has confused many about the authenticity of deals and now it raises questions going forward

  • +5

Hey I also appreciate these posts in a way, but like others would prefer it posted when the actual title is confirmed; rather than the speculation..yeah probably does belong in the forums as the actual deal is not active or confirmed as of time of posting…..But I do agree-Not deserved the negs …

  • Cute cat. I presume this game is great for kids. Not too hard/finicky?

  • if psn post are allowed to be up and labelled "Free games" I upvote this deal because its the same thing.

PSN needs to be paid for. Why not add every movie that comes to Netflix because itll be free…

  • +2

Nice thanks. I played a bit of this on mobile and had fun but I think it would suit more on PC.

Note this is after 3am and the game is indeed Cat Quest.

  • +2

    Thanks BargainsGrabber.

  • +13

Sorry you're visiting our service too frequently. Please try again later 😭

Never seen this error before.. what kind of store limiting (free)customers to visit as often as they like??

  • +13

Has anyone else run into a "Sorry, you are visiting our service too frequently, please try again later" for the first time when logging in today?

I can't get in with either the windows app or website and I use my own IP address. I haven't previously used VPNs for Epic but tried it today to see if using a different IP helps but got the same error.

    • Yup same thing for me

      • Me too. On my phone in a browser and on the PC in the Epic app. Strange.

Ratio of free games:paid games too low perhaps! Or more likely a bug.

    • +3

Yes major login outage via status.epicgames.com.

      Have to try again later.

      • Hope they fix before the 24 hour window to claim game expires.

"Sorry you are visiting our services too frequently"

    • +5

Yeah they've got an outage listed on their website.
      https://status.epicgames.com/

    • Also getting the message.

    • Same thing here. Phew, I thought it was just me.

    • I'll check back later today, if I remember.

    • +1

      Now working for me

  • +2

Sums up a company when their default message is to blame the user instead of saying they have an issue at their end…

I'll still take all these free games I'll never get around to playing though 🤣

  • 😂 looks like epic games banned my profile. Message I’m getting:
Sorry you are visiting our services frequently. Please try again after some time.

    • +2

See the comments from the last hour, above yours - looks like it's not about your account.

  • +1

RIP. Sorry you are visiting our services frequently. Please try again after some time.

  • Oddly enough I was able to get through the error message when I used a VPN. Another game for the pile

  • Its working again!!

  • In my opinion these giveaways so far apart from The Outer Worlds Spacer's Choice Edition have been a bit meh. The Other Worlds was one ripper giveaway. But it's not over yet.

  • -4

Wow so it turns out the game of “spam a predictive deal until it works” - worked!

    • +1

Tomorrow’s freebie will be Snakebird Complete if we’re going off that forum list and same conclusion made by reddit user Megumin

  • +1
  • Thanks for the post

    So many negativity here
Predictive deals not a deals, free games not a deal blah blah blah, you guy should be thankful a people spend their time on trying to find out what the next game probably be and to be reminded there are free games to grab.

    • +1

But predictive deals are not deals. Imagine your whole Ozbargain home feed being guesses. Do you think you might get slightly irritated you can’t find something to actually buy because everyone is just guessing the next best thing? Seems like a totally weird choice by the mods to allow.

      • This is different one, since the deal will be happening tomorrow 100% for sure, but just not what the content are.

Its different than someone predicting that epic will have a deal on X games tomorrow, but not sure whether the deal is happening or not, then yes its should not be posted on here, it should only be posted when the deal happening.

        • I guess difference was here - there were 2 deals trying to guess what this deal would be. Mods delete the incorrect deal. Do you think that’s right? You’re obviously not seeing it so you think it’s all hunky dory.
