Free Allianz travel insurance with St George amplify signature card

Just wanted to ask if I have been screwed by allianz.

Recently I went overseas destination (India) with a connecting flight via Thailand . While returning my flight from the India got delayed which in turn lead to me missing my connecting flight to Australia from Thailand .

I did call the travel agent eDreams but they didn’t offer me any respite . I immediately booked the cheapest available flight from Thailand myself and came to Australia . I assumed my complementary travel insurance would cover me for this . My claim was for 580.10 aud . They sent me a email that the claim is approved for 280.10 aud. I did t u destined why they haven’t paid me another 300 aud. I called Allianz and they said the person who managed the claim would calm me back. But I haven’t received any call from the person.

All I wanted to know from the experts here is if this is common practice. Since the decimal places are same and they have given me 300 aud less than the claim; I was thinking if this is some sort of excess or may be it’s just a mistake from Allianz .

Any inputs from experts would be appreciated.

Did you check the excess that you have to pay per claim in the policy? It might be $300.

    • Couldn’t find it. Wasn’t aware I had to pay any excess

Had the exact same out of Delhi to Bangkok where my Mumbai connection was delayed and i missed all my flights back to Perth.
Luckily had zero excess with Allianz, they received my claim for a $600 rebooking fee through STA travel (were actually bloody good, it was around midnight in Delhi which put it at 3am in the morning in Australia and sorted it within half an hour) they paid out everything after it was lost in their system for a couple of weeks.

All in all fairly painless other than following it up.

But yeah as the previous poster stated, they would've deducted your excess with is standard for credit cards.

    • Did you have a seperate travel
      Insurance with Allianz ?

  • My claim was for 580.10 aud .

No receipts for other expenses incurred during BKK layover ….

    • I only ate some food because of the extended layover . Was my first time claiming the travel insurance so I didn’t add those receipts .
