'Yeah, the packaging is damaged. There's a clean slit in the plastic so we could swap the cards out for cheap clones."

    • These come from seller Amazon Warehouse which is actually Amazon itself. I can't see them doing that.

        They could be returns…

Amazon doesn't have to. They don't test returns, so a fraudulent buyer will get a handful of these, swap the cards for clones, then return.

I wouldn't touch any opened package SD cards at all, regardless of the seller.

So this deal is just not worth the risk.

        • Thanks for that. Never though of this

  • Amazon have a lot of fakes in the listings.
I wouldn't trust them for SDmicro cards.

  • all 150 items as stated by Mod are fake??

    figure it out

    • Would you take the gamble if only 20% were fake? 10%?

If none were fake, why were SO MANY opened and returned? Were they actually faulty and Amazon doesn't know or care?

Don't take it personally, it's just the risks of SD cards.

      • Its the risk of any Amazon Warehouse electronic return.

E.g I bought 2x xbox wireless controller with adapter bundles.

Both were missing the adapter (not stated in listing)
One was a serial number mismatch (i.e the original serial number on the box didnt match the controller)

With sd cards there are a lot of fake and clones out there. Definitely a risk regardless of who you buy from.

I've bought a number of listings for sd cards from pny, sandisk and patriot and all have been fine but ymmv.

Amazon are easy for returns at least.

        • That xbox controller was a classic switch new item for used scam. Scammer buys say in your case a brand new Xbox Wireless controller from Amazon. Takes the new controller out of the box. Places a used controller he/she got for cheaper into the box and then seals the box up, and returns it to Amazon for a full refund. To scam Amazon. That's why i never buy products from Amazon Warehouse. Amazon never checks the returns to see if it's the right product.

          • @hollykryten: Yep, it's a classic scam to return their old one for a new one as most returns people won't check the serial numbers match and all bits of the item are there.

In both cases they also pinched the wireless adapter to return the rest of the item to Amazon to get that for free as they are harder to buy separately.

To be fair even the new sealed in box one I bought the xbox live ultimate code had already been redeemed, but amazon provided a $10 credit so that was ok I guess.

Most of the other items I have bought from Amazon Warehouse have been pretty good all things considered have cleaned up on some good savings and gotten some good items out of it.

It pays to check the item listing details, what you are saving vs new and be prepared for the worst, and factor in your time to return and buy a replacement elsewhere if you get burnt.
