    1. We all know HN is the scumbag of the retail world
    2. PSA: In case you don't know HP supplies the IDF with tech to enforce their illegal settlement and occupation in Palestine
    • +3

so Gerry + HP = no deal

    • +7

Gerry is total scumbaggery! Yes the milking of the pandemic payments was bad - but he was also a big proponent for GST and taxes on under 1k$ imports which is hell worse and that is unforgiven.

Most businesses do bad and good things and if I dissed everyone on the bad I'd be buying nothing :/

    • -3

Pretty sure most people support the IDF and this knowledge would increase sales.

  • FYI: This laptop weighs around 2.5Kg and battery lasts around 2 to 3 hrs playing games and around 5 to 6 hrs on video playback or web browsing.

    • How's the gaming perf?

      • +1

Performance is quite good as in very responsive, but the only issue is the sound of the fans, they are loud and kills the gaming experience unless you already have noise cancellation headphones (which I highly recommend)

        • Ok. Noted

        • +3

only issue is the sound of the fans, they are loud

Isn’t that the case with every gaming laptop, ever?

    • so no way up to Omen standard?

      • +2

Victus is their ultra low end segment. Shouldnt have been paired up with a 13700HX, nor sold with a 2.5k rrp to began with.

  • How does this compare to the lenovo legion pro 5i?

    • +1

way worse, please see my reply down below.

  • +13
    • Single SSD slot with no upgrade path, victus did have two ssd slots before, and this being a large gaming laptop, arbitary cut down from hp

    • Single 32gb ram, even with D5 ram running on dual channel by itself, you still need two sticks for optimal performance

    • I wouldnt trust this cooling solution for a 13700HX, for comparisons sake:Helios 16, Legion Pro, Strix G16, - their design all varies and some use less but thicker heatpipes, but the gist remains the same: when the cpu doesnt even gets its dedicated heatpipe, we have some issues, doesnt help with the lack of a 4th exhaust (low end MSI moment)

    • 16:9 16' (others are either 16:10 16' or 16:9 15.6') also means no readily avalible panel options even if you wanted to switch it out yourself, its almost certainly 45% ntsc as well

    • MT7921 - some of the slowest wifi card by far, and you thought stock lenovo/asus ones on amd rigs were bad

    • All usb ports are slower 5gbps variants. no thunderbolt, despite being an intel rig

  • As a pricing benchmark, this cost approximately the same as the 32gb/4060 legion 5 slim after cashback

Hodl unless you must have a brand new gaming laptop right now

    • +2

Yeah but there hasn't been an HP Omen deal like it since August.

  • I bought a similar version from overseas a while ago, specs are pretty much the same but with 165hz display and 83wh battery:

1 the chassis is the same as the previous omen 16 (2022).

2 it has 2 ssd slots and 2x16gb ddr5 ram.

3 GPU boost clock speed can reach 2520 mhz on performance mode, higher than many competitors.

  • Just bought a Lenovo LOQ 15IRH8 direct from the company for $1529 shipped. There's no way HN was getting my money…
