Chemist Warehouse Price Matching Error

My Experience with Chemist Warehouse Price Match

I recently visited Chemist Warehouse and attempted a price match on Colgate Sensitive Toothpaste Pro-relief Multi Protection 110g, which was priced at $5.50 at Woolies and $6.39 at Chemist Warehouse.

Upon inquiry, I discovered that the system doesn't perform a direct price match but offers a 15% discount off the original price. Chemist Warehouse's policy, however, claims to match and beat competitor prices by 10%.

CW pricematch policy - https://www.chemistwarehouse.com.au/aboutus/why-shop-with-us

The total amount after the discount was $16.23 for 3, making each toothpaste $5.41. This led me to question whether a 10% reduction on the original $5.50 would indeed result in $0.55.

I'm sharing this experience because if it's happening to me, it could be affecting others too. Has anyone else encountered a similar situation with Chemist Warehouse's price match policy?

Thanks.

we will match it and give you 10% off the difference!

    $6.39 - $5.50 = $0.89
    $0.89 * 0.1 = $0.089
    $5.50 - $0.089 = $5.411

    • Easy to miss that distinction.

yes, just like the "IS IT?" part of their slogan

Send it through to the ACCC. This is part of their mandate

It is not 10% off the price, but the difference so read the conditions again and always carefully as they all have something in there that is strange/unique.out of of it. The worst one is Hardley Normal with the not below cost, but cost includes a bunch of stuff like store, marketing, overheads etc , so I have never got them to price match normal prices at the cheaper computer shops that in Sydney are based near them or still 50M across the road just up a few floors in the air.

  • OP drives around town trying to extort 55 cents.
Others wait for a Coles special….

  • Not sure why the receipt shows 15% discount. Must just be a free form text field which they should have entered price match. 15% of 19.17 is not even the discounted amount of 2.94

  • This is the same the Good Guys price match before. They gave you 120% of the price difference, not the price itself.

  • chemist shithouse more like it…lol!
