Just to add to some of the posts in the last few days, I needed a flight from Tokyo to Perth in Oct and got a good deal on way in business for two (about $3800) - out of curiosity plugged in Perth to Tokyo around the same time and got a pretty good price of $3,600.
Flight tracker says this is about $2,900ish cheaper so some punters who don’t turn right on planes anymore may want to take a look?

It's certainly a good price for a … fairly good … airline. The seats are pretty good on medium/long-haul planes. Service can be friendly but poor on initiative and attention to detail. Entertainment system is fairly good. The lounge in KL is also fairly good. So, yeah, as long as you aren't expecting Singapore Airlines, ANA, Japan Airlines, etc, you'll be fine as you're paying a really very good price (relatively speaking).
I was caught in the first week of MH's total catering disaster back in September. I believe they have their shit sorted a bit better now, but I haven't been keeping track… you'd hope everything would be normal by late this year!
As much as I would like to vouch for MAS, relatives and colleagues who has use it recently has been saying the service is pretty bad.
One of the flight didn't have the infotainment system online until 3 hours into the flight, and food quality has dropped considerably. Seat spacing was also an issue with my colleague, just comparing between two airlines he had to take between stopovers.
MAS has really gone down hill unfortunately. The staff are still great, but the flights between KL and Perth are often late, using older planes with aircon blowing in your face at full power. Very uncomfortable.

Flew back from Japan on MAS A350, it was slightly dated but loved it. Great service, seats and food. Would recommend!
Did you see the deal below on ANA, which is certainly going to be a better flight than MAS?
