The temperature gauges are missing from the lids… 😲

    Only in red?

    • +7

      Red ones cook faster…

    • all colors were available, i bought black

  • Baby q was running at $309 for last couple weeks at TGG, for reference. Sale ended yesterday.

  • +2

I gave TGG a call and they did me a half hot plate at 25% off.

    • If you haven't paid DM me

    • Exactly what I am after, OOS at Myer

Too bad the temp gauge and electric igniter models aren’t sold by Myer, otherwise it would be a good deal.

    • What ignition is on this one? The piezo style? Any major advantage/disadvantage?

      • Yeah this is the piezo style. Electric is generally more reliable especially in wet weather apparently

        • +2

Owned a weber Q for 15 years. Sure the piezo can be a bit finicky at times but never fails to ignite. The idea it is affected by wet weather when the ignition point is under the hood makes zero sense.

Patience, young grasshopper. Wait a moment. Take a sip of that beer in you hand. Turn the heat (gas flow) to zero and then with the hood open immediately retry.

The joy of ignition is all part of the joy of BBQ mastery.

As for the temperature gauge- I installed that post market too. Never used it to cook although it did show me just how quickly the temperature drops when you open the lid even for a few seconds. So don't.

Just adhere to the pre-heating times in the instruction manual and forget the illusion of precision that a gauge provides.

Amazon is matching the Baby Q Barbeque Cover Black with Myer

  • Been looking for a patio cart to suit the older model Q2200. Does anyone here knows where to get a deal?

  • Amazon has the Baby Q starter pack for the same price (sold out at Myer).

  • +1

Can prob stack with the Cole’s 15% bonus Myer voucher

    • By the time you buy one all the stuff will be OOS

  • Highly recommend replacing the plate if your Weber Q is getting old. Metal brush the burners, spray off the inside of the shell. Not too big of a cost / effort for what feels like a new BBQ at the end of it

    • Whats a new plate worth?

    • I cleaned it up everytime after finished BBQ and store in garage.

    • I did the same. Feels fresh

Nah. Just keep the grill plate like you would any iron cooking plate - constantly oiled and well sealed.

And if a rust spot appears- as it will - don't panic. Heat up the Q to high heat and coat it with a high smoke point oil like Rice bran oil. Let it cool and repeat. Problem fixed. Just remember to keep it oiled after you have scraped it clean.

Was a time when the Webber Q videos in Australia recommended cleaning by using water and a brush to clean the grills. This was appalling advice and resulted in Webber replacing rusted grills free of charge. Those times are gone. Clean up with a brush when the grill is hot, don't use water, and lightly coat with oil as needed.

Grill should and will last a lifetime with proper care.

  • Got one, thanks. I will drill the hole and use last models gauge. Mine is 17 years old.

  • How does the new models compare to the previous models?
I felt that the lid was lighter in weight when I had a quick look at them.

    • I had Q3100 second hand for about 2 years and I have Q3200N for 2 months now.
The lid of the new model is definitely lighter, maybe another material. Not sure if it is so sturdy, but hope you not beat it or drop test it ;)
The tray is in front, easier access for cleaning. The Weber logo is ON the tray and nowhere to be found on the BBQ itself, which is ODD.
Cooks similarly and its cooking size is a bit bigger but similar to the family size.
The main difference is that the new model or at least Q3200N/Q3100N are directly connected to the cart, whereas the old version was really easy to disconnect and use it as a portable BBQ (if I remember correctly) and this is not an option now.
The new model handles are light grey and not black, which makes them easier to get dirty from grease and spots, when using the brush on the grill.
The cart is metal and not plastic as previously but does not look so sturdy.
I hated deep cleaning the old model, but I've only done the cleaning by hand. I already cleaned the new model, but with a high pressure washer and it was quite easy.
      Any specific questions?

  • I literally bought this from The Goodguys yesterday, geezus..

  • The main thing I like is the plus burner, better for searing and slow and low which never worked on the old ones.
