What Phone to Buy

Hi all

So I'm really tight and keep my phone until it no longer works
I have a redmi note 8 pro and it is still working good and I'm happy with it

However it uses 3g to make calls and telstra are shutting 3g down in a few months
So unfortunately it looks like I need a new phone

But I just looked and redmi note 13 pro is over $500 (I paid around $200 for note 8 pro) have redmi phones gone up that much now or is this a bad price

Also if not redmi note pro now what is a good cheap phone

    Given that you're still happy with your current phone, have you tried any tricks to bypass the carrier check for VoLTE and VoWiFi?

    It's obviously a good idea to try this before splurging on a new phone just because of the 3G shutdown.

      Hi all

      I followed the instructions and it literally took 1 minute.

      Vo lte now comes up on my phone, so if it works when telstra shut down 3g network I won't need a new phone

        if your phone says on 4G when you make a call you've got VoLTE working

    Never heard of poco, but then again I never heard of xiaomi before I bought the phone

      Poco are just the international release of 'redmi' phones by Xiaomi, and generally same same but different.

    my advice has worked for this guy.

    you can buy a refurb iphone SE 2nd gen for around 200 dollars. Though battery life isn't that good and screen is rather small (if that's what you care)

    Yes Xiaomi are not as good value for money as they used to be and I find less and less Xiaomi deals nowadays. I've got a Poco F3 but next phone will probably be a Pixel considering how much they have come down in price.
