Microsoft Win8 Upgrade for Recent Windows 7 Laptop Purchase (after 2 June 12) Less Than $14.99

31

It is similar to the Office 2010 deal. If you pick Indian rupees the exchange rate appears to be in your favour. Matched with an anonymous paypal account. Hopefully it provides some privacy protection for the consumer.

You only save around $2. This would not be recommended if you need a physical DVD copy.
699 Rs.

    • At a glance it looks like it but the details lay it out, you can get it a couple of bucks cheaper than the $15 offer if you follow what the OP says, apparently.

      • Blog author says he doesn't even know if Paypal works for this. Non-Indian credit card might not work either.

It's all pretty dodgy sounding, probably should reside in the forums at best.

Should be added to that post instead of a new one.

Differences in cost due to different currency exchange rates shouldn't constitute a bargain. Exchange rates constantly change.

    Nice name, OP.

The potential hassle to save $2 is not worth it. Better deal directly with MS.

    • +1

you are dealing directly with MS.

  • I don't think there would be such a thing as an anonymous paypal account. Sounds dodgy could be using a stolen paypal account. I wouldn't touch this so called deal if i was you especially coming from a website that calls itself devils workshop. A bit of a giveaway of dodgy there.

  • ,…. MS direct forever.

Massive issues with the Microsfot 8 upgrade. a REAL PAIN!!!!! My personal feedback is it was not worth my TIME or the $

Really. I just upgraded two computers from Windows 7 without issues. Can't comment on any problems here.

smooth ride from windows 7 to 8

But from Xp is a different story, MS planning to sell full Windows 8 OS "soon" .
        This is a better packaga.

        • what's story of XP? any trouble upgrading?

        • My only problem was Win 8 disks did not work on the ancient laptop DVD drive so I had to set up a flash drive boot. Otherwise smooth… Oh and getting google as a tile on metro but there is a youtube vid for that.

His issue is that he paid with paypal but MS hasn't received it or something. He hasn't even started installing W8.

  • Still waiting on my email from Microsoft. :(

edit: nvm, logged in and the code was there. :)

Firstly, its offered through Microsoft and not someone else so not sure what people are complaining about.
At current exchange rate it works out to be about $12.60.

Don't forget your credit card may have exchange fees (CitiBank Debit and 28 Degrees do not)

OP can you please confirm that this has worked for you.

Since there is a saving to the normal retail it is a bargain. As to whether or not you can be bothered doing it that way is up to you, but if you are that lazy why are you on OzBargain?

    Well done OP.

This was announced by all companies selling their computers from August 2012. Therefore nothing special…
