[QLD] Heineken Case of 24 330ml Bottles $44 @ First Choice / $43.95 (Members Price) @ Dan Murphy's

110

Not a bad price if that's your thing, especially since most alcohol seems to have had a price rise, probably due to CPI excise increase.
Not sure how long it's on special for.
Also get $2.40 back for your empties!

Not bad but the locally brewed Henekin is muck imo. Like all the locally brewed knockoffs.

    • I lived on Heineken growing up in Europe and I can't tell the difference between the brew produced there and the local brew here. Can you please articulate what you perceive as the difference?

      • -5

Sure, I dont like the Australian version. Is that articulate enough for you ?

Next you'll be telling me that Australian Guinness tastes the same as Irish Guinness lol

Your argument carries some serious weight. A career in politics might be the way to go.

@Lps: Its not an argument its an opinion you clown. Note the imo in my post. You (profanity) idiot.

            • @jmc787: Yes, definitely politics. You and Barnaby could tear this country a new one.

By the way, an argument is an extension of an opinion.

Plot twist - you don't like the European version either.

Every version is muck - nobody is buying this for the delicious flavour 😁

      • I think the Australian brewed Heineken has less flavour and therefore taste. The reason why an International brewed beers can never be the same in Australia is because of the different water sources. You can have all the same ingredients, but they can never have the same water. If local breweries are going to brew beer locally, don't charge consumers international prices to pretend we're buying and drinking international beer.

        • It's true. But our water is among the best in the world.

      • Taste is very difficult to articulate.

Beer is a complex mixture of bitterness, sourness, acidity, and even texture (viscosity, carbonation, etc).

There's no objective 'licence beer is too X or not Y enough'. If it were that easy to express, they'd find it a lot harder to get away with this cheap substitute business model.

But the truth is that there really is a difference, and if you're familiar with the beer it's very notable. The water alone usually makes a big difference - you've drunk tap water from a variety of places, and some different brands of bottled water surely? Not all tastes the same to you, surely? (If it does, that's a bad sign).

        • Its not nice either way really.

You used to be able to find the imported version around, and sometimes score it for the same price as the local stuff. Haven't seen it in ages. I agree there is a definite taste difference and the imported version I liked more. Don't drink much of this style of beer anymore as my taste preference has moved on.

  • better deal carton (24) of Powers Ultra bottles members price $40 @ Dan's https://www.danmurphys.com.au/product/DM_289141/powers-ultra…

    • 4%? Nah.

      • for $40 don't complain, most carton are what $50+ for what like 4.3%+

        • +2

Hello? OP is linking beer that's $4 more per case but is also 25% stronger than 4%!

          What a terrible 'better deal'.

            • -1

@G-rig: You're welcome to have a subjective opinion on the taste of beers mate, but let's not pretend otherwise - s#itloads of people like it, don't mind it, or just don't care about how it tastes.

I'm just saying, it's a bit … silly to put it mildly … to suggest a far weaker beer is better value for the sake of 10% price difference. Maybe worth sharing as an alternative to the better deal, but yeah nah.

              • @Grazz989: Yeah I'll probably get some Heiniken, was saying Powers wasn't that great a deal either (for weaker and average beer) but people will still get the cheapest on here.

Either way has to be very cold or they taste very average was my point.
