Released in Oct 2014, which makes it almost 10 years old…

Only supports up to iPadOS 15.

Which wouldn't be a problem itself except key apps like YouTube won't work on it. Though you can ad block with the Safari version of YouTube anyway. 10 year old computer is well and truly vintage, you'd want a specific use case for this, like a digital photo frame or just for browsing recipes online.

      • Youtube runs on IOS 14.0 and above.

      • You wouldn’t get security updates would you?

        • +1

I'm still getting regular updates on mine.

        YouTube won't work on it.

I have one and youtube works fine on it.

    1 hr battery life max.

Would be interested at $100 if they have new batteries

    • Where does it say that? Or are you assuming because of its age?

      • I’d guess he’s assuming on it as the listing just says this:

        Excellent condition ( A Grade )

      • We have 2 at home, battery dies after 1hr and takes about 4 hrs to charge lol. Also have ipad air gen 1, less than an hour on those.

        • +3

I have an iPad Air 1st Gen and get 5+ hours of medium use and 2-3 days standby.

        • I have an iPad Air 2nd gen and it works perfectly for streaming and basic games, get at least 4 hours battery life from it.
It does struggle to download new or updated apps due to iOS limitations.

        • My kids are using an ipad air 2 and battery life seems fine. I've never timed it but way longer than an hour. Probably 4. Youtube also works fine on it.

        • My air 2 still lasts around 4 hours screen time. Which is about 40% of what it did when new. Fwiw

I wouldn’t buy one now though. But if you already own one and it still work fine. It performs better than my much newer Samsung tablet that doesn’t get updates anymore. However I end up using my newer slower Samsung tablet because nicer screen, and audio. I have an iPad Pro but still use my old Samsung more, despite the crappy performance.

      • From the listing.

Battery Life: Below 50% charge, significant degradation.
Cosmetic Condition and Functionality: Noticeable wear, potential impact on functionality.

        • +3

          That’s for Grade C

The deal from OP is for Grade A:

          Grade A:
Battery Life: Maintains 70% to 100% charge, showing minimal degradation.
Cosmetic Condition and Functionality: Minimal wear, fully functional without issues.

          • @BargainsGrabber: That’s much better. Kind of tempted.

My young kids happily use one of these still but the display has gone all wacky so all the colours weird/inverted.

    • Yeah I have one of these lying around and the battery life makes it basically unusable. Wouldn’t waste your time unless the OP can confirm the battery has been replaced.

      • Yeah I have one of these lying around and the battery life makes it basically unusable.

I have mine connected to a powerbank and just switch it over once a week… Works fine.

With these iOS version limitation, very likely you won't be able to update most apps like Netflix, YouTube, etc.

    Too old

  • Electronic waste

Lol the brand itself make it valuable at $170, remember in the past even iphone 4 box could sell. Or apple logo sticker

  • you're kidding, right?!!!

    • +2

I think he is. You can even get an ipad 6 or 7 for about $200 on marketplace

      • This price is a joke. It should be below 50.

9.5yr old tech, used, and still this price?! C'mon man.

    • While I agree not to buy this iPad model anymore, save up a bit more for a new iPad 9th gen or something newer used if you want an iPad. The sad thing is though this 9 and half year iPad vs an Android tablet at this price the iPad will still probably perform better, have a better display, speakers and get more security updates. It’s kinda crazy to me how Apple can still push out updates to such an old product.

did they raid the apple museum

  • landfill for sale?

My thoughts, I’m negging the deal because it’s basically an end of life product at this point. If it was $20 I’d pick one up and that would be a deal. Near $200 for a device that is on a two year old out of date version of iOS and won’t see any more major versions is the problem here. Also on old batteries , you could be lucky and get one that still is reasonable but most likely at this point unless it’s been replaced you are looking at 4 hours screen time if you are lucky. I know based on my old iPod touch on iOS 12 most major apps will continue to work for years to come though. So the comment about key apps not working is incorrect. Especially basic media consumption apps like YouTube, will work fine and performance on this tablet is still great for such tasks.

  • I have one this exactly. The battery is OK, yutube watching up to 5-6h, but the big problem is it lags as hell, ful reset doesn't help. And exactly the same problem with the Samsung Galaxy S1 tab. I feel as to made it such lag is by factory implemented to force us to buy new devices. I assume it because full reset is restored original applications, which all became lags as hell.

  • Would not recommend paying $170 for 10 year old tech. It is a dinosaur in tech terms. It is basically a souped up variant of the iPhone 6 processor.
