Product Description:

Dark Souls is the new action role-playing game from the developers who brought you Demon’s Souls, FromSoftware. Dark Souls will have many familiar features: A dark fantasy universe, tense dungeon crawling, fearsome enemy encounters and unique online interactions. Dark Souls is a spiritual successor to Demon’s, not a sequel.

Prepare for a new, despair-inducing world, with a vast, fully-explorable horizon and vertically-oriented landforms. Prepare for a new, mysterious story, centered around the the world of Lodran, but most of all, prepare to die. You will face countless murderous traps, countless darkly grotesque mobs and several gargantuan, supremely powerful demons and dragons bosses. You must learn from death to persist through this unforgiving world. And you aren’t alone. Dark Souls allows the spirits of other players to show up in your world, so you can learn from their deaths and they can learn from yours. You can also summon players into your world to co-op adventure, or invade other's worlds to PVP battle.

  • Whop saw on your post price have not activated yet

  • Steam account required for game activation and installation
In the system requirements, so you have to use steam to play it

  • Unfortunately the port is terrible… at least it was when I tried it at release.

    • apparently they made the game open for modding and people already modded it to 60fps + high resolution. Might worth a try now

    • +1

This is what makes me sad.

Yes the port was shit but thanks to the community (namely Durante's DS Fix for resolution: http://blog.metaclassofnil.com/?tag=dsfix), most problems are fixed. There's even one that makes the mouse control playable. Even things like skipping the intro and changing skins are possible now.

But chances are, people aren't going to go back and change their original reviews on game review sites like metacritic so other peoples' views of Dark Souls (on PC at least) will be tarnished forever.

On the bargain itself, it's pretty much been at this price ever since it was released. I bought mine for $22 off a cdkey site so $2 off that isn't worth waiting months but Amazon is a much more reputable site.

      • Yea, from what I played of it back then the mouse control issue was the main thing, I also don't know if the company really deserves money for the pc version considering the support they have provided hasn't really been worth it. Everything has been done by the community.

        • ^ This. You shouldn't support lazy developers.

        • +1

If you haven't already, you should read the customer review 'Misunderstood Port' - it raises some good points.

          @Rodgort
As for "You shouldn't support lazy developers" - what are you going to do, torrent it? You noble pirate you.

In the end, what does it matter to the end experience that From Software (who were never even going to release a PC version, until they were begged to by the PC community) didn't iron out the game's kinks? The community did, and the fixes are out there. If you can't be bothered tracking down these fixes for yourself, then I would call you the lazy one.

I don't care who the fixes the game (especially considering that it was a miracle the damned thing was even ported), and as long as the fixes are there, it shouldn't even matter. I wouldn't let a so called 'lazy developer' get in the way of me experiencing a good game.
Besides, there have been far worse ports than this (Saints Row 2, anyone?)

        • There are more bad ports than this. Its amazing enough a company that does not do PC games at all managed to force port it to PC. Not the first time the community fixed a broken game. Btw one of the amazon review is hilarious. Some guy whining about dying every minutes and he rate the game 1 star for that

        • Pirate it? No. I've already played it on the PS3(didn't really enjoy it that much anyway), and the only thing to tempt me to play it again would be a Steam sale($7.50 at best).

  • When will it be this price do we know?

    http://cdkeyprices.com/product/Dark-Souls-Prepare-To-Die-Edi…

Good price drop on it. Reputable source.

  • Price actually 19.90USD! :O

  • Looks like Walking Dead is also on sale for $15 and the Bioshock pack for $7.50. Both activate on Steam.

    • there was already a post about bioshock pack so its ok. You should post the walking dead one :). A lot of people are interested in getting it. I can't wait for episode 5. Best story game of the century
