Lightning Deal. Looks like an all-time low according to Cx3. Thinking of grabbing one to replace a recently failed 8th gen i5 NUC that was my Plex server (feedback welcome on the idea).

Edit: Looks like the EQ12 (dual 2.5G Ethernet) is on sale for $321.20 (also an ATL).

I am using it as a WinNAS with a few TB SSD.

What is WinNAS? Can you please share a link for more information? I also like to update my existing very old QNap NAS

My guess is ‘Windows NAS’. ie. using a regular consumer PC and version of Windows as though it was a NAS by just setting up SAMBA shares all version of Windows support (not just the Server version).

yeah, basically like that and I mainly use the following services
          - SMA share (docs & infuse), getting approx 400-500mbps transfer speed which is ok.
          - OneDrive
          - MS Remote Desktop for external access
          - qBittorrent with WebUI

    • I'm pretty sure the i5 NUC was overkill for what it was used for and I wouldn't notice a difference with the N100 other than slightly lower standby power consumption, but I'm curious about remote Plex transcoding & Handbrake performance. I've got a 4-bay Terramaster DAS that's used for media storage so I'm all good there.

I'm using a beelink n95 for a Plex server (with a realdebrid backend) - struggles with remote transcoding for 4k but everything else works fine.

The struggle may also be my 20mbps upload connection…

Thanks for the feedback! I bought one so fingers crossed it's not too hard to get everything set up again

        • I have the beelink n100 and am great 4k transcoding once I took the load off the cpu and put it on the igpu using hardware acceleration.

  • "90% claimed" but also "All coupons are now claimed"… wut

    • I literally just logged in and purchased one, said 90% claimed and coupons used, but worked when I clicked the coupon anyway, try again maybe?

Hi all, I'm looking to build a Plex server (currently using an old surface Pro as a test) would it be better to get the EQ12 instead at $321

    EQ12 has DDR5, supports AV1 codec, USB-C, 2 LAN ports, and ??

S12 and EQ12 will perform similarly and both support AV1 decode FYI. Main differences are DDR5 single channel and 2x LAN ports. It’s not going to make much difference unless you benefit from the Intel 2.5GbE NICs.

      • thanks, bought the S12pro, now it is back in stock

If you're going to spend over $300, isn't the NVIDIA Shield 4K a much better choice for a Plex server?

    • Shield 4K works fine as long as you don’t need to transcode 4k format videos. Mine grinds to a halt the moment it attempts to transcode a 4k HDR video. As a direct play server it’s okay, but seriously underpowered.

    • In my experience, it's not a reliable platform for Plex Media Server.

Running proxmox on this with a bunch of containers and servers. home assistant and jellyfin as well as spinning up VMs for pen testing and that. I haven't done a power read but from the specs it should sip the juice. Nice and quiet, I have it next to the TV for the ethernet port.

  • Still in stock and I'm not surprised since it's DDR4.
I'd jump all over this for $200 and the DDR5 one for $250-$275.

  • Great price for the EQ12, except it's OOS.
I bought one 6 months ago for $100 more - nice little PC.
